Allen HS was probably recruiting him to be on the football team

Well, at least he wasn't beating up his girlfriend so he is improving…

Who would have ever thought that the Eagles & commanders would be playing for a spot in the Super Bowl? Cowboys have a deep hole to crawl out of just to win their division.

Rookie RB Judkins arrested for domestic violence. Cowboys related because he was one of several early RBs that we wanted.

The heck is wrong with these guys. They have the golden ticket... Just don't do anything dumb...... And yet, they cannot.

So TJ Watt signs the biggest non-QB contract in history, setting a new bar for what Micah will want. The sit-back-and-wait Cowboy negotiation strategy continues to work like a charm. Expect him to miss all of training camp, sign a $42mm per year deal a week or two before the season starts, the new defense off to a slow start, and the Micah end up hurt.

Gotta appreciate what the Jets did with Wilson... Yes he's now the highest paid WR, but it's an extension. He's still on his rookie deal right now and by the time his "real" money kicks in it won't be highest in the league anymore.

Imagine if Dallas has gone ahead and extended Micah last year or the year before. By the time we got to the 2026 season his contract would look like a good deal for us.
DannyDuberstein

Yeah, Micah should have been an extend-or-trade decision last offseason.

Rinse and repeat on the same poor strategy. It conservatively costs them $2-3mm per year across 4-6 deals, so basically $10-20mm of cap space every season that could be used to add talent but instead is just going to an inflated salary of existing talent. And again, I'm being very conservative there - they could be saving close to that on Dak alone if they handled him differently

Sounds like there may be some maturity and work ethic concerns with Jaydon Blue. Hopefully it's the typical immaturity that comes with being 21 and he can get his crap together and do great things for this team. Otherwise he'll find the NFL pretty unforgiving. Sip entitlement culture returning to form?

Nothing new for Jaydon Blue, unfortunately. That dates back to getting kicked off his school team… and then later, his team mates voted to uphold the booting.

Let's hope he figures it out, because he got dynamic athleticism at the RB spot.

There's a reason he never really panned out at tu. All the tools except between the ears. Lack of consistent focus.
I hated this pick. I'd imagine if these concerns are arising now, he's not gonna last very long. Fortunately, there should be many backs available as teams trim down.

Geez, he was beat out by that skinny little Wiesenburger dude…

We passed up so many better rb options. Never a fan of drafting a whorn

Yeah, I've heard similar about Blue. Very limited sample set so far, but the people that talk Cowboys for a living were all saying similar things. Didn't look like he was mentally where he needs to be.

That's not terribly uncommon for rookies, especially during those first mini camps... but if we are talking about a guy that has never fully committed/invested to his former teams then that's going to be a problem! I don't personally know anything about him, but what y'all are saying doesn't sound good.

Blitz pickup and putting the ball on the ground were my main two concerns with him. And these reports have me feeling not so great about either, particularly the former

still can't believe we're letting yet another star sit there unsigned while we just allow the market to reset over and over again. I just don't understand the front office at all. I don't want to pay micah insane money any more than anybody else does....but, if we have to, I'd much rather pay him 1x instead of 1.8x. Like what are we doing?

Wonder if he'll be Joseph Randle 2.0 (on the field... I'm not saying he's a POS like Randle).

Great RB who makes plays when he gets the ball, but the coaches can never trust him so his touches will always be limited.
DannyDuberstein

I kind of think that is what happened at tu. A lot of talent at RB there his first couple of years, but that job was primed for him to own in 2024 and instead Wisner leapfrogged him to get the lion's share

I mean Blue was also a 5th round pick. There are reasons for that. Some of it is what has been discussed here, but I think believing he was going to come into this team and be the No. 1 or even a significant part of the offense was always a long shot.

They bungled the RB draft again. I really like Mafah and they drafted Blue to be the speed back but anyone with a clue could see he had major warts: injury, size, head case.

I used to laugh at people who peddled this "conspiracy," but the more times I watch it play out exactly like you've described, the more I think there's really something to the belief that Jerry does this on purpose because it's more valuable to him to keep people talking about the Cowboys for a few extra weeks/months than it is to save a couple million every year on a contract. This would rightfully get any other GM in the league fired immediately, but, well, I don't have to tell you guys....

Agreed. It's to his benefit and his alone. Our entire roster potential suffers so good ol jer bear can stay on the talk show circuits

I do have to think it is a combo of Jerry enjoying the spotlight, but it's also Stephen's dumbass ego as a negotiator. He's a self-admitted "I don't call you, you call me" negotiator who thinks he's a badass for dragging these out

Yup! The media has covered this as have insiders that Stephen is the issue with these negotiations not Jerry. Being proactive requires planning, details, being organized, and having a vision for the future; those two are too hungover to do any of that.

Which is why you hire GMs! Most owners don't have the desire or the drive to do what GMs do... owners have already hit the money jackpot and they lack the motivation to do the job.

I don't fault Jerry or Stephen for that, I would probably be the same way, but they need to recognize their shortcomings/failures and hire somebody to do the job full time. Yet, their arrogance won't allow it.

They have a GM they simply won't empower him to handle contracts because Stephen is the cap expert!

I can't decide which football team I'm less enthusiastic for this year: Cowboys or Aggies.

Maybe walk around the Eagles facilities and try and bring some mojo back to Frisco and Arlington.

Other than years when our QB1 is hurt, the Aggies & Cowboys have pretty much had (at minimum) competitive and (at times) GREAT football teams since the early 2000's.

It's been death by 1,000 paper cuts for around 20 years because we have very little to show for it (1 Heisman and some nice bowl wins / Division titles and a few playoff wins).

I get it, SOMETHING should have magically gone our way at least once but it hasn't. But I'm still enthusiastic. I think BOTH teams are going to give us some big win moments this year which will be fun... and hopefully at least one of them overperforms and gives us a special season.

Im leaning more to the rumors that the Jones' are cash poor and they drag their feet on these big contracts because the signing bonuses are a real challenge to pay. This makes zero sense otherwise.

So they drag it out and end up paying a larger bonus? I think they do it for the clicks and national attention it draws. This drives ratings and more money for the franchise.
