It's way too big, in my opinion, to be a coral snake. Where is this? Looks like it could be a bull snake, rat snake, or even rattlesnake but it's really hard to tell…

yeah, i've only seen one coral in the past 20 years and it was very thin - probably wouldn't even be captured by my Reveal cameras. my guess is that coon just ate a rattler.
Not a coral but hard to tell what it is. I'd guess rattlesnake. Neat photo.
Actually let me take that back. Snake i saw in 2023 was a fat king snake.
In the past week, I've had two previously "only good snake is a dead snake" people have me ID harmless snakes and let them live.

Yesterday, Grimes CO, approximately 1700. Dude was at least 5' long and not very concerned about me and my son. Surprisingly, my son was totally cool with seeing him and not freaked out. Hopefully the pics load. I haven't been having luck with pics lately.

Either Imgur or Texags changed their code. I just upload direct from phone now because Imgur doesn't work

Here's a special one a friend and I found north of Houston recently. Leucistic copperhead. Two different colored eyes is something I haven't seen previously.
I am surprised a white copperhead survived that long! Both being spotted by predators and being undetected by prey.

So how can one tell thats a copperhead vs some other pit viper? As a non snake expert I simply see a white snake

I'm not the expert but for me it is their head/face. Even though they are close to the WM, copperheads have a distinctive "Don't **** with me look" on their face.

Wow, that's a $5000+ snake, IMHO. Wild leucistic is highly valued in the herp trade.

Yeah, I've only kept 2 wild snakes. Both Eastern Hognoses.
Otherwise, strictly captive-bred.
I have none right now, but I want to eventually get a tricolor South American hognose (Lystrophis). That and southern hognoses are the only global species I haven't had.

I forget what year but there is a perfect example of the "mean" face they have. It is in a bag of bottled water. The poster had a friend or family member that was bit.
we see these pretty often around the ranch. But this one was bigger and heavier than most.
Tried to get more pics but he went to the grass between the truck wheels pretty quick.

Yes. They normally move slowly away like a slinky. But this one kept his head up high while moving. I don't remember seeing one look more aggressive before. I thought the shadow was cool.
