You got me, it's mine

Finally got a contribution since moving to Arkansas. Kids just called me outside in front to say a snake was crossing the street. I expected a little guy but found this beauty -- about a 3 footer.

Speckled King?

Has to be. I didn't think he was as black as most at first, but got some closeups when I came back out later.

Had this rat shaking his tail in the grass at me a little while ago. About 4.5' in western Comal County.

Several water snakes and missed a few that couldn't get a good picture of. And a toad/frog from the other night. Need to work on my amphibians

Had a 4' yellow bellied racer slither by my front piercing and car port yesterday. He was pretty mellow. He didn't get particularly agitated or run off as I followed him, and let me get quite close while keeping a wary eye on me but not getting overly defensive. Too bad my phone was inside the house.

Never saw it until it was tangled with the weedeater

got a good reminder today to knock on the pool skimmer door before removing it. First ring-neck snake of the year.

Finally got a pic of a snake in a little puddle by the creek, when it has water there are always a ton of food in there for it. And found something a bit larger in the creek

I did that once, then got a couple of these...

How am I supposed to putt with THAT going on, Doug?!

I have taken snake pics since I was helping my nephew ID snakes since we have a ton at our property and he was asking me which ones not to mess with. Figured others could use some additional pictures for that and to get a better idea where to look for them. For example this 3ft+ DBWS chilling by the bank waiting for its next meal this evening.

It's about to be the dry season and I'll only see a few a month if that. I normally have a mixture of my wife, kids, and dog with me so there is no way I can handle them, the hears of elephants that is with me scares them away. Plus I don't like dealing with water snakes without gloves, been musked enough in my life.

Yes, yellow bellied/plain bellied/blotched watersnake - whatever the taxonomy is on them now. I thought I saw it just changed again in the last few weeks.

Not the best picture but need some help to ID, the reddish/brown color is throwing me off. Hanging out in a small pond and was just over a foot long. Collin county TX

Looks like a nope rope to me.

Honestly, picture quality makes it pretty difficult but based on pattern alone i'm pretty sure that's a juvenile PBWS. Ill put it at 80%.

Tough to tell. I thought maybe a timber rattler, but I don't know. PBWS might be it.
