A work group met for dinner at Red's Ice House. The waitress was very nice, but definitely didn't have much experience. It took 4 tries and 15 minutes to get an accurate bill for each of the 5 of us.
The restaurant was almost empty and my loaded fries were delivered to the table cold and hard as a rock. First and last visit for me.

My husband and I waited until only recently to give Red's a try. We have been twice in the past few weeks. Sat at the bar each time (most comfortable bar stools in town). The service and cocktails were excellent both times and we have enjoyed the meals we ordered. Both times, the fries were hot and fresh (tip - ask for the tomato jam instead of ketchup).
The place was not busy at all, but we went during the late afternoon to avoid any crowds.

Agreed. Red's is really good. Im still working through the menu but so far everything I've ordered has been good and I would order again. This is not bar food. It's a step up with a Michelin chef . Michael the bartender has a ton of experience in BCS and is fantastic.
He was our bartender the last time we went. My husband said Michael made the best Vodka Collins he's ever been served in BCS.Quote:

We went there yesterday at 11:15. There were others as well.
We were informed they were doing a friends and family thing and we could come back at 12:30 and eat for free. But we went another place.
Probably will check it out during one of the Missouri games this weekend.
Update: Went there for lunch. Sat at the bar. Very nice bar set up. Had the spicy chicken sandwich. That one's a winner.

Went to Willie's yesterday 5:00ish..for a drink with friends - we go about every 6 weeks. Really like their chips n queso- they were out of Tonic - Again. Last 3 times we've been in there I've been told - oh I guess we're out. How hard is it to stock Tonic? Manager came to table and asked how everything was. I asked about the tonic and he said yeah we always seem to run out. I mentioned there was Specs half a mile away couldn't they send someone to grab a few bottles? He acted like that was the dumbest idea.

This sound like one time at the Rock Prairie Freebirds. I had gotten a bowl and they were out of forks. Just a simple "sorry, we're out", so I pointed out that they were next to Kroger and should probably go get some more. All I got was a shrug.
I went to Lucky Goat twice! First in the a.m. for drip coffee and later with a kid - that time I had an herbal iced tea. Both quite tasty! There's a lot of seating inside, plus outdoor seating and the fenced-in yard with a playground structure.
I mean if I was meeting somebody and I knew they were out of tonic, I'd bring my own. Back in the day, you could bring in your own bottle and just pay for the setup. Not sure if any place does that anymore. I would welcome that any day of the week.maroon barchetta said:TyHolden said:

Hit Bubba's tonight. They are probably ahead of the curve for new restaurants. No issues with service. Food is what you'd expect for the price. I gotta say, though, the TV scene is pretty good. Maybe the best in BCS. They should do well being next to the theater. My son already wants to have his birthday party there with a movie afterward. This will do well with kid parties, girls night out, game night, etc.

yeah, reminds me of Roadhouse with better TVs. Not sure the food is as good. I had the ribeye and it was average. RH does that better (as it should). Atmosphere was great though. I hope they can maintain it.techno-ag said:TyHolden said:

Took my daughter there the other night after a movie at Star Cinema
During one of many awkward interactions with the waiter, he curiously asked if everything was okay, noting that the previous group had mysterious relocated to another table.
Few minutes later, I'm mid-bite into my mediocre club sandy and I hear a gasp. My daughter has this face
Turns out there was a bit of a roach congregation on the wall behind my head. A few bugs in my food don't bother me, but she sat the rest of the time with her feet raised off the floor. Explains the comment the waiter made earlier.
Went to Bubba's last night. Not a long wait at all. Burger was amazing and I love me some tater tots! Wife had chicken fried chicken and it was a thick breast that indont thing was cooked enough. She said it was very rubbery texture wise and after tasting, I agree. Just felt off. Other than that, we enjoyed it.

Went to Geaux Daddies outside Navasota last night and it was the best crawfish I've ever had. It is a bit of a hole in the wall/BYOB/dirt parking lot joint but boy do they know how to boil. Perfectly cooked and spiced and not expensive. The folks we were with had shrimp and crab and it was great as well.
Tried to go to Red's after the ball game. Plenty of open tables on the patio, where we wanted to sit, but the hostess said there were no tables available. So we left. Probably won't go back. We're like that.
Maybe they didn't have waitstaff for the patio? If I managed a restaurant I'd rather leave tables open than have poor service.

Better on my outting. They were by far the easiest to get out of shell and very tasty

We had a positive experience at Bubba's. Good service with a packed restaurant, a manager visited the table, the food was good. There were a few mistakes, and they eagerly fixed them. The TVs are well done and comparable to Walk On's. As long as all that stays true, it will be in the rotation.

Does Red's have their full menu now? We went the 2nd week they were open, and it was just so-so with a limited menu.
