Taco Crave in Downtown Bryan is always consistent and fresh. They get my vote!
It amazing that people will spend hundreds of thousands of dollar to open a restaurant and then, one, not do their due diligence on site selection, and two, not hire a competent and experienced manager.RafterAg223 said:
The varsity owners are in that building and land for way more than they ever should have been. No one is going to come along and fork over 5+ million to open another restaurant in no man's land on Highway 6

I'd rather go to Anchor Bar for the reason you wanted to go to Pluckers! I like it quieter! :-D Wings are great and the pizza rolls are amazing!
Agree 100% on Taco Bar. Great food and amazing owner! I wish he'd advertise a little because the location is a little rough.

Went to La Bodega yesterday and was thoroughly disappointed. We went after church and it was not busy at all. Service was very slow and the food quality was not great. I was really excited to see the poblano soup and it was so salty it was inedible.
Not sure we will be back, especially at those prices. $5.50 - $6.50 for a taco and and extra $5.00 to add rice and beans.

I really enjoy Karma Kolache and the workers have been super friendly.
Madden's was a very nice place to go for supper.91_Aggie said:
Madden's is supposedly coming back and my wife and I couldn't be more excited.
Wish it had never left (or that Chef Tai wouldn't have abandoned it).

That sounds exactly how it was under the previous owners. Rumor is it's another family member so who knows how much it will actually change.

We haven't been in years, because it's not worth it.
I had one of the half price Thursdays coupon, so we could both eat on about $25. Used use them all the time.Hornbeck said:trouble said:

It's "Local Restaurant Review / Discussion", what's wrong with criticizing local restaurants? I mean, as long as you're not wishing death upon the owners or making comments implying something unsavory and potentially libelous ("Ever since [___] opened, all the stray cats from the neighborhood started disappearing", e.g.), I don't think it's wrong to criticize food quality/service/etc. more than anywhere else.Captn_Ag05 said:
I hope this thread doesn't just turn into a place to s*** on local restaurants.
No because:FlyRod said:

Casa Rod used to be one of my favorite places in town. We'd go there probably weekly when I was in college (c/o 2014), I would take my family there when they would come to visit, and it was one of my go-to places to take dates because it was good, fun, and inexpensive.woodiewood1 said:
Went to Casa Rod last Saturday at about 5:15. Heard someone else bought it so my wife and I thought we would try it as we really loved the food a year or two ago.
Walked in and there was not another customer in the room. I asked the young host for a booth, He looked around and said that they were all dirty and when I looked they all had dirty dishes. There was another guy sititng in far back table and two gals standing just outside the kitchen doors.
So we sat at a table against the wall and he handed us menus. After about two or three minutes he came back with water. We sat there about five minutes and my wife was sitting looking towards the back of the restaurant and the two gals were just standing and talking. The guy that brought us the water had sat back down on the back table with the other guy.
Another couple came in and was sat about two tables in front of us. Still no acknowledgement of us. We waited another couple of minutes and I told my wife I will wait another minute and I am gone. We did and I stood up and looked back and the two guys were still sitting at the table and the two gals were still standing and talking.
I just waved and said bye to them and walked towards the door and stopped a second and told the other couple good luck as they had yet to get anything other than menus.
I hope they make it, but if this is typical of their new service and employee attitude, they will be closed within months.
We went to Jose's and the waitstaff was great, chips and drinks within minutes, and food delivered within about six or seven minutes.
