Had lunch the other day at the new Madden's Casual Gourmet. I haven't eaten at the Philips Event Center since it was Briarcrest Country Club and a private club. I remember the dining area being a little bit nicer but that was a long time ago. To be fair, it was nicer than I was expecting for PEC.

We had the crab cakes and grilled meat loaf which were both delicious. The crab cakes were how I remember them to be from the food truck instead of the restaurant which is not a knock against it at all as both were delicious in different ways. My only criticism would be that the crab cakes seem to be much smaller than I remember. The online menu says the crab cakes come with a fried green tomato but that's not true and the menu there reflects that. We also had their bread pudding which was almost as good as I remember. Pricing was fair. They're open every day and closer now so we definitely will be going back.

Picked up Burger Mojo drive thru (#1 and #8) and a very solid fast food burger and fries with a decent price point. They are on par with most sit-down burger places for me. Worlds better than whataburger.

Speaking of a damn good burger...I haven't been to Mooyah in a hot minute. Got the Keto to avoid the carbs and it was fantastic. Great and fresh as always

I had a rough week and decided we were not going at cook at home tonight.

I saw the sign earlier this week and decided to stop in, best decision I made all week.

Sorry I did not catch his name but the guy working the window was great, I knew what I wanted but couldn't find it on the menu and he got me setup.

One question, any plans on doing online orders in the future?
I could not find anything about this location on your websites, eventually I found your Facebook page.
If I had not seen your sign I would have never known the place was there.

Second, we have only been open about 10 days. We soft opened to get some reps and then did a free burger day which was announced on social media and on Rusty Surrettes Facebook. We're in no rush to go gangbusters immediately. This was a long game decision and now that we're up and running we're hoping word of mouth will get us to the promised land.

We wanted to gauge interest and get feedback before making the investment into online ordering. Our platform has monthly overhead so we needed to get open and running. We've had some inquiries and it's a hot topic for us. I suspect it will happen sooner than later.

So this one is both a matter of feasibility and space. We can make the space with significant effort and the cost for the machine is $15k. That said, we wanted to gauge interest and sales volume before deploying a shake machine. We would love to put one. I suspect we will.

This guy can make you a deal on a shake machine but he might end up franchising your business and ruining your life, if you believe the movie.

I wish our machine was that size lol.

Notably I get contacted by franchising agents on the regular. Not interested. If/when we expand they will either be company stores or hybrid JV licensing agreements with our existing team members.

In the 90's my dad found one like that and bought it and got it repaired. It was in an antique store.

You could make five shakes at once with that thing.

Visited de Baca last night. Brief review:

1. Excellent bar. Great pour by our bartender
2. Building is very nice. Service was excellent
3. They've clearly done away with the dress code
4. I like the iPad menus - allows for product updates
5. Wife's ribeye was very good. My strip was OK
6. At their current pricing, no way this place survives.

If they make it, this would be a very special-occasion place.

Hey, I was at home last night.

My current burger rotation:

Mojo
Mooyah
Chimys (on Texas toast)

I'm more than content with those 3. Washbangers was kinda in there before but not nearly as frequently but obviously no more.

On a side other restaurants note I really liked Coco Shrimp at Century Square. I'm not a big shrimp guy , I like it ok enough but the flavors here are really really unique and good.

Hubby has enjoyed the burger at Shipwreck when I order seafood.

Burger House is delicious!
