1860 is horrible - you can hear it from outside.
DeBaca was quiet this past week. I have heard complaints but I heard nothing objectionable.

Chef Tai restaurants are generally quiet enough to converse. Solt used to be our favorite date night place.

Ditto on the Chef Tai restaurants. Food is good, and atmosphere is conducive to a great night out.

Had lunch at Bubba's Saturday with two visiting friends I hadn't seen in a long time to catch up. The music was pretty loud and I asked for a place where it might be a little quieter. I don't think places like that exist in restaurants.

Can anyone provide logic for loud music in restaurants which I've always thought is a place to converse and socialize? Kinda hard to do that when you have to raise your voice to talk to the people across the table. Hence the loud decibel level that we all speak of. It's a ridiculous practice and I don't understand why so many places feel it's important to have music blaring.
Many restaurants know that most diners want to be entertained and are either are on their phone most of the time or watching sports on TV and not there to converse with family and friends. Luigi's Italian on one of our favorite visits because of the lack of TVs and loud music,

Went to Hello Darlings for their opening today.

Great experience!
Got the Hello Darlin' Platter, sub'ed extra brisket for turkey.
Line was slow as they were making sure each order was made correct, that will improve I am sure.
Ribs were great.
Coleslaw was light on sauce (a good thing).
For $60 it was a lot of food.

Everyone was super friendly, including those waiting in line.

$60 for how many people?

Looks like a half pound each of brisket, ribs and turkey. 3 sides and dessert for $60

Yep, that is what it was.
As bbq goes these days, I didn't think that was unreasonable.

That sounds pretty reasonable in this time of escalating food costs. Looking forward to trying them!

Went to Gate 12 last evening for dinner for my MIL's 86th birthday. We had reservations for the eight of us. Service was great, My dish (stuffed shrimp) was good not great but my wife said her's (Chicken /Madeira) was excellent. Most all of the group thought the food was top notch. Not unreasonably priced for the atmosphere.

Restaurant was not loud....we were probably being the loudest.

Went to the new(ish) Madden's restaurant at the Philips Event Center on Friday for dinner. Went to the Madden's Casual Gourmet website and made reservations since I had no idea how busy they would be (they weren't busy).

Having never been there, I wasn't sure where the restaurant was located. Went inside the Events Center and didn't see it, only a sign for how to find '1929 Eats and Drink.' Took a leap of faith and decided it must be the same place and took the elevator down one level. It opened directly into the restaurant. I looked at their website again after we were seated and see that both Madden's Casual Gourmet and 1929 Eats and Drink are mentioned. And if I had scrolled down far enough before arriving, I would have seen that there is even a navigational tutorial (with photos) on how to find it.

Dinner was awesome. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Lots of familiar Mad Taco options too. I was impressed at the prices for everything. For the three of us, 1 appetizer, 3 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 draft beers was $70 (before tip).

Poche's tonight. Wife ordered fried chicken, I ordered pastalaya. We were regulars when it opened, haven't been the last 6+ months. Sat at the bar, service was fine. There was a group who obviously work there eating/drinking at the bar for free. I'm guessing the owner would not like that.

Back when we were semi-regulars, the fried chicken was a Wednesday special. It was fantastic & was a great leftover. Tonight, awful. They now fry what was terrible quality chicken in fish fry. The fries were soggy & cold. Absolutely unacceptable.

I've had pastalaya in a multitide of cajun places. Never have I had bowtie pasta in red sauce, but that's what Poche's is serving, terrible. It came with over cooked, hard chicken chunks, thin grocery store sausage slices & old shrimp.

I met the owner when it opened & he seemed engaged & interested in customer feedback. Not sure what happened, but this place has gone swirling down the toilet.

A French restaurant chain run by an actual sultan? I guess I always wondered what the food might be like if the Ottomans had conquered France or vice versa.

Anyway Hope they do well here!

We had a similar experience last time, 25 minutes for the food to come out with cold soggy fries, then 10 minutes later after our plates were clean, another side dish arrived. The server apologized for the delay and walked away ignoring our empty water glasses. Add on the impossibility of exiting that place back onto HM and I doubt we'll ever be back.

We went to Casa Mangiare for dinner tonight and the service was amazing. This was our second visit and we really enjoyed it. If you want a nice, quiet dining experience with excellent service and don't mind paying for it they are definitely a great option.

Way too inconsistent for me. Too expensive to take a chance. Chao Mangiare.

On my LAST trip to Poche's I ordered a bowl of gumbo. It was all broth, 1 shrimp, and a crab leg. $22 of absolutely nothing.

They are circling the drain.

We tried a few options at work yesterday. The one co-worker that didn't order had instant regret.

Everything we got was good, the poppers, the empanada, the pastelito. Can't wait to try more options.

My only complaint, and it's a small one, was that they weren't hot, but we did order pick up.

Can't wait to try something else next week.

$22 for GUMBO? Did it include several types of endangered and exotic sea creatures? Caviar scattered on top?
