I love Margie's. It's definitely a mood thing though with going down to DTB and waiting for the old flat top to cook it.

The flat griddles used at burger places today obviously are way, way faster and more efficient. That one at Margie's is, let's just say, is unique lol

And by "unique" you mean "small". It literally just big enough to cook one order at a time.

Margie's was great. I got the In Between with bacon and a fried egg. I didn't notice it taking any longer than expected, although there were only a few other tables in there today.

Will definitely go back.

Can't beat a 100 year old flat top for seasoning. Sexy pimp is great, but I prefer to get 3 or 4 Opersteny burgers. They are like crack.

Went to the Edge General Store.

Excellent burger made with thick hamburger patties. Best coconut cream pie that I have ever had.

It's my new favorite burger joint.
Edge is also great. My top three burgers in the area are probably:

1. Top of the Hill
2. Edge
3. Margies

All three are fantastic IMO

Don't forget hamburger at Yankee Grill in Carlos (Off highway 30)! Also, steak night every Wednesday! Cool biker bar for those who have never been. Great BLT too and homemade potato chips!!!

Haha, kind of. I mean small, old and not enough heat retention to get a great Maillard reaction. The burgers are good nonetheless. I would say the romance of the process is what's most good.

I admittedly haven't made it to Yankee yet but I've heard great things.

Trying to decide which one is best between those three is a fool's errand. There isn't a wrong choice.

Agreed. It's Top of the Hill for me but that's personal preference. The other two spots are excellent.

The Monterrey Jack Ribeye sandwich at Yankee's is awesome.

Can't disagree with those three.

We've been to Mojo a few times lately due to some posters recommendations on here and I've been pleasantly surprised with the taste and price. My wife is happy for the gluten free option.

I also like Chubby's behind the old Mr. Hamburger.

No brainer with Top of the Hill and Margie's. One that doesn't get mentioned much is the burger at The Station on 29th. It's right up there.

Not a fan of Mojo. A hamburger should actually have some meat on it.

Had Top of the Hill for lunch. Excellent as always.

Not sure what mojo you're eating at. They have 6 oz patties when whataburger only has 1/4 lb. and Smash Beast is monstrous

Took some out of of towners to Frida's for lunch. Absolutely perfect all the way.

The issue is the BBQ is so good people forget about the burger (which is very good). Was there with friends and their dogs the other day and had the burger.

I always get the burger or patty melt there, which is also excellent. BBQ is good, but not my first choice when visiting the Station.

I don't disagree. But I think the BBQ rep hangs over the place and has a psychological effect . I mean it still shows up as Big Dawg on some search engines.

I like their drinks and the fact that they rotate beers frequently.

You kidding right? The patty was pretty much non existent. What do you mean what Mojo, is there not just two locations both pretty much doing the exact same thing.

And FYI, I don't go to Whataburger for hamburgers. They suck to now.

Now it seems this is important to you so I will say their fry's are awesome. It's too bad they serve baby burgers.

Christopher's has never disappointed.

We also make it a point to go to Los Cucos.

Christopher's----generally OK. But they need to add a little variety to their menu every decade or so.

De baca recently. Beautiful place. Very sedate. Not my cup of tea.

I'll keep on with Houston/Austin, especially steak. Upper casual we've got a couple spots. We just don't have a great, properly prepared steak here.

I've always been weirdly surprised at what succeeds and what fails around here. Haven't been to DeBaca, probably won't. I wish them well though.

Went to Shipley's Southwest Pkwy at 10:30 and they said they stopped honoring the deal at 10:00. And it was only BOGO anyways since a purchase was required. However, HEB is giving out a free (not BOGO) donut via a digital coupon, valid all weekend.

And that's why HEB rules in groceries.
