It's July - when is Chicken Oil gonna open? Place your bets!
I've never had a bad meal or experience there. I guess there are always one offs or maybe those who are impossible to please. That is also an operator that welcomes criticism and does everything they can to address it. It is extremely rare that restaurants in any market that pull 4.8+ stars on open table or google with more than just a handful, aren't really good to excellent all the time.Sleepnumber said:Way too inconsistent for me. We went to Casa Mangiare for dinner tonight and the service was amazing. This was our second visit and we really enjoyed it. If you want a nice, quiet dining experience with excellent service and don't mind paying for it they are definitely a great option.
If the operator welcomes criticism, have him read this. On two recent occasions, we've had really mediocre food; plus juvenile, indifferent service. Not trying to be overly critical; nor am I "impossible to please"---just the opposite.RafterAg223 said:I've never had a bad meal or experience there. Why don't you contact them? I don't need to have anyone read this for you. CiaoSleepnumber said:If the operator welcomes criticism, have him read this. I have no problem, merely pointing out that you can contact them yourself. With that said, if you truly believe they have experience issues of that magnitude, I would at least reach out to them directly before conducting a drive by roasting. There are a number of good operators in this town who are truly local and who have also invested a lot of their hard earned capital to bring all of us nicer amenities in this community. All of the folks I've met want to know when they fall short and also want to do what they can to rectify shortcomings. The restaurant and hospitality industries are extremely challenging right now anywhere you go. This community also doesn't boast the world's deepest talent pool when it comes to staffing a white table cloth restaurant, so they all do the best they can. Unfortunately, internet message boards afford people the opportunity to be a little less civil than they otherwise would be. If you would actually walk up to one of the principals and call their staff juvenile and then say Ciao as you walk out the door, then more power to you.Sleepnumber said:What's your problem? Passive-aggressively telling someone something to the lines of "if you don't like it, tell it to my face" (especially in terms of complaints) is never a good comeback.RafterAg223 said:I have no problem, merely pointing out that you can contact them yourself. Tried the new Casa Rod (La Katrina) this weekend. It will be our new go-to place for Mexican food. Best cheese enchiladas around these parts.
We also had bad experiences at Casa Rod and quit going. There's new ownership now. Debbie is not involved. They have changed the menu some and we were told they are adding new dishes and changing the name of the restaurant. Service was very attentive this weekend - quite a few tables around us and no one was waiting for drinks or food. We had 3 people checking on our group.Rexter said:halibut sinclair said:

We used to have Casa Rod in the lunch rotation. It went downhill so we stopped going. Tried them again recently, and had a couple of good experiences. Went back last Thursday, and the service was horrible.
We walked in behind a couple. The lady server that works the right side asked us booth or table and I told her the others were there first. She sat them, and then we stood there right at 5 minutes before the guy that works the left side greeted and sat us. It took him almost 10 minutes to take our drink order, and then another 7-8 to take our food order. The people at the next table got up and left without food, and said they had been there longer than 30 minutes. All of this when there were 4 or 5 tables sat for lunch.
The food was disappointing as well. It was a little better than lukewarm, and pretty bland.
It's a shame that there is no consistency. It was always good when Bea was there, and Tommy kept up with it. After he left, George tried his best, but it slipped, and crashed after he went to C&J.

Debbie posts almost daily about Casa Rod on the BCS Meals and Deals fb group.
I've said it several times here, but Casa Rod used to be my favorite Mexican place in town. I have been there twice in the last 5ish years and was extremely disappointed both times. Whoever is running it now either doesn't know what they're doing or doesn't care.
The staff was wearing shirts with a new name on them when we went in at the end of June. Said Casa Rod would be renamed soon.trouble said:
Seems like she sold it to a family member. She's still going the social media though. She's real active on Facebook but it seems way less so I'm the restaurant.

They sold it. New owners. No alcohol now. Not on my list to go to again, which is a shame, because I really enjoyed it before.TyHolden said:
What happened to Blue Fin? Picked up to go there twice and nobody in there. Prices seem a lot higher.

There is also no such thing as free time. Zoom Meetings while on the toilet or in the shower are always good for a laugh.Hornbeck said:I work from home, which means there's no such thing as lunchMyNameIsJeff said:
