man refs swallowed their whistle in USA vs Turkey for 5 extra minutes and for Argentina they blow it instantly even when CV had a corner

I can't believe the quality of the R32 matches so far. So many incredible matches already. Expanded Cup is here to stay (as if there was ever any doubt otherwise).

What's crazy is I don't feel like Argentina played a poor game. Could they have done better? Sure. But they still played a solid game. And yet CV nearly matched them the whole way. And it wasn't just a 0-0 lucky slugfest. 2-2 for nearly 120 minutes. Unreal.

I hate recency bias, but I honestly can't think of a better WC game than that. And I've been watching since '78.
The best player in the history of the game, a crazy raucous crowd on their behalf, #1 team in the world, and the smallest country ever to make knockouts went toe to toe and refused to back down. Amazing.
Tell you what though, FIFA is relieved, they have already lost Germany and the Dutch, would have been a disaster to lose Messi and Argentina.
Last point, shame CV drew Argentina, they might have beaten almost anyone else, and the amazing understood story would have rolled on.

Blinn has had some good teams also. Even won the NC at their level a while back. You'd become emotional if we barely beat them in one of their "good" years? Doubt it. Argentina should have walked into the locker room and focused on why they had to go into extra with a team from a nation of 500,000 and 40 year old electrician/goalie.
