FWIW, I think Reed was going to be starting by mid year anyway. He has taken a very significant step forward.

He ran the whole scrimmage Saturday and looked damn good.

That is definitely encouraging. I would much rather see Reed fill that role vs. getting desperate and bringing in Bev or Russ. Seen enough from Amen to believe he can run point when needed too.

thinking that Reed can come in immediately and start is foolish. He was a train wreck last year. Didn't look like he deserved to be on a NBA court. And now his is starting? Thats a huge reach. This is a huge setback, hopefully the ghost of Bob Sura can show up and we can find some magic off a scrap pile.

The decision the Rockets have is to give up future assets or not. Can they get a guard who helps them win the West, and what does it cost?

The cost for not making a move is a lot of Thompson, Sheppard, and Holiday at the guard position, so you'll have a good idea of what Thompson and Sheppard might be.

So Amen, KD, Jabari, Tari or Finney-Smith, and Sengun? Basically 4 forwards and a F/C

Or does Sengun move to the 4 and Adam's plays the 5?

KD should get plenty of points this year. Not many scoring threats outside of him.

Edit: Amen PG for offensive purposes, but guards best wing while Reed guards PG.

Would prefer a cheap/experienced table-setter at PG. Amen plays better as a destroyer-of-worlds off the ball; having him run point for even just a few possessions per game would take away from not only his strengths but what we brought KD in to do. Amen at 1 would be a weird black hole and only works in a pinch, not a full season.

Not sure who all is out there or how the money would work but Reed being the full-time PG is a no for me.

I don't think Reed can be a POA defender. You are going to have to use him off ball on a shooter he can stay in front of, have Amen on the POA and Jabari and Durant on the wings.
