Have to go 3.5-0.5 minimum. Should be easy right?

Well, your strategy is to send out worse players. Griffin shouldn't see the course today; he's playing the worst of anybody. Keegan probably not man enough to sit someone all day; but that's what should happen.

Griffin is one of the best players in the world right now. One bad day yesterday doesn't mitigate that.

But, by all means, let's keep rolling out guys out there who haven't won or been in contention in months/years.

Do the Americans get to double digit points?

Honestly how JJ played yesterday, he should have been playing this morning. But Keegan said in the press conference, "We have a plan". It looks like the plan is try to lose the Ryder Cup before the Sunday's single round.

Zach Johnson 2.0.

The problem is, the thing you anre complaining about most is 1-1.

The rest is 2.5-7.5. That's what is getting our ass kicked.

Not the decision to play schaufelle/cantlay together.

When your #1 is 0-3, the other decisions pale in comparison, especially one that is 1-1.

Nothing is guaranteed. I'm talking about giving ourselves the best chance to win. I don't think we are doing that by playing guys who aren't in good form and haven't been in a while. Our best chance over three days is to play the guys in good form the most.

Sometimes that doesn't work out, like with Sheffler and Henley, but it's still the best strategy to win.

The whole point is that you give yourself the best chance to win by playing the hottest players the most. It may not work out but it's your best strategy.

There are reasons Griffin has had a good year. None of the strengths he has fit going out there and trying to go birdie for birdie with the Euros.
Going out on tour, hitting solid shots all day, avoiding bogeys and makinng 3- 4 birdies a round is great over 72 holes. That isn't the game this weekend. Sending him out to hit it to 40 feet all day, make pars and birdie the par 5's is a waste in this event.

Yep but I was thinking of it in a Aggie context such as Fran continuing to run the option to shot side of the field haha

He's a better golfer right now than Schauffele, Cantlay, and Morikawa. Its as simple as that. Young is better and so is Spaun. Burns isn't but at least he is the best putter in the world.

It's not like Cantlay, Schauffele, and Morikawa are birdie machines. Heck Griffin is longer than Cantlay and Morikawa.

Maybe we should consider re-using an old captain such as Zinger

One day doesn't erase an entire calendar year and especially the past few months. Griffin has been a far better golfer the past year and definitely the past 3 months.

Griffin isn't a guarantee, as yesterday showed. But given his form he gives you a better chance than guys who haven't won or contended in a while.

Even a guy like scheffler who lost yesterday afternoon. Pretty sure he was 4 under through 15 and on his way to a 67 type round. Playing like he always does. Just doesn't translate to this format. At least not when your partner doesn't reciprocate. You lose 3 and 2 anyways.

Maybe we should just do away with auto qualifiers altogether and just look at how Ryder cups are won/lost and pick the best 12 that fit that format. Would never happen unfortunately.

I haven't liked the strategy. I actually do like these afternoon pairings, but the foursomes pairings have sucked.
But the argument that Griffin is the fix is laughable.

yeah Tiger has an awful record. He holds that title for the US as of now.

Tiger 13-21-3. 35% win (13 out of 37)
Scottie 2-5-3, 20% win (2 out of 10)

I think Spaun and Schauffele is an automatic loss unfortunately. Spaun is consistent but hasn't been able get it close to the hole. Schauffele is useless at putting and was erratic today. Spaun going to have to make a couple long bombs to keep that close.

Don't see anyone beating Rose/Fleetwood either, but maybe something clicks with Scottie and Bryson.

Difficult to draw up better than 2-2 with that lineup.

Rory and Lowry love playing together too. And so do Rose and Fleetwood.

For that matter, so do Rahm and Hatton. And Rahm and Straka.

They aren't little *****es and are a team.
