The only real home team advantage is in Europe. All their players play here on a regular basis, where our guys rarely play in Europe on those types of course setups(slower greens, thicker rough, emphasis on long irons, etc).

But they set that course up for their strength. They were better approach from 175-200, Max Homa talked about it on the pod last night how it was insane how many holes he had something like 187. All the shorter holes they basically made drivable to keep our wedges out of it.
We did nothing in this set up to make set it to our advantage. We cut the rough, but we aren't the bomber team anymore.

We did zero research and don't use statistics. It's lazy. The shorter rough has helped them more than us

Shorter approaches and around the green probably. Only thing we could've done around the green is make this place firmer so that you couldn't go at every pin and force tougher up and downs for bad shots, but the rain wouldn't have let that happen. This place being a birdie fest hurts more of our guys than their's.

I would have thought the wedge game was an advantage for us, but the Euro's have out performed us in that category.

There aren't that many approaches with wedges on this course. Check out the approach distribution. After the first couple holes, you don't have any wedge opportunities until 18. Only thing that throws off the visual is #13 showing as a wedge opportunity but it's a par 5. https://datagolf.com/ryder-cup/insights

After #2, there are only two approaches inside of 150, and one of those is #18 so chances are you won't play it.

Our guys grow up being trained to not get too high or low and all the announcers are like" you never know if he's in the lead or behind he stays so calm. " they praise that emotionless behavior and then they can't flip a switch for the Ryder Cup.
