I think she missed the plate. That would be a big call

Wells should get a lot of interest as a hitter with tons of potential. https://t.co/p8WuCbcCRK https://t.co/XHdOO8TmP5

Current offers listed in ON3, unknown if this is all offers or not. Classes would be next year. Four spots open. Five offers. One has already committed to LSU.
P - Taylor Pannell, Senior
P - Sydney Berzon, Senior
P - Peja Goold, Senior
SS - Kylee Edwards, Junior (LSU commit)
SS - Addison Amaral, Junior
SS - Jackie Lis, Senior (my replacement for Kylee Edwards)
I mentioned several things yesterday morning. What do the coaches think about Hailey Golden (OF) and Larisa Perez (IF)? What do they think about our pitching staff after this year? What do they think they have at all positions? Noted that we have only six infielders, four with experience. We have six outfielders, only two with any experience (but not a lot). I should have added that I think a team should have double the number of players needed in IF and OF. In other words, should have 8 IF and 6 OF. SOOOO, 2 short IF and none short OF.
P - three offers for P. To me this says a LOT. Grace has not panned out. She was the same at Ole Miss and I thought was a poor grab back then. Sidne was out most of the year but was good at Washington and shows promise. Taylor Brown was redshirted, was awesome on the mound and at the plate in HS, but is an unknown. Freshmen were average in SEC play. We need better than average. The coaches making offers to 3 P is a huge tell, in my opinion. And they are all seniors next year, another tell. Gives the Freshmen another season to learn how to pitch in the SEC. Gives Sidne a (hopefully) full year. And can see what Taylor can do. Can always grab another one or two in next year's portal.
IF - two offers for IF. Note that we have no IF coming in as Freshmen except C Madison Sauni who also lists 1B and 3B. We have six infielders, only four with experience. How does Larisa Perez do in practice? What about Reagan Jones? Making offers to two 'might' say coaches are iffy about Larisa and Reagan being good enough to start (I think Larisa probably better chance than Reagan) but more likely just means they simply need two more IF and let the four battle it out in practice. Note that the two offers are for Juniors, with two years eligibility - might need them for two years. I do not know where Ariel will go but we can talk about that over the Summer and Fall after the roster is set!
OF - no offers known. Just 'might' mean that the coaches think they are OK here. I think Hailey Golden might get the nod next year, along with Frankie and Kelsey. If not, one of the Freshmen. After that, we have Scout and another Freshman. So, 'maybe' the coaches have confidence in what they have.
C - no offers known. Just 'might' mean that the coaches think they are OK here. Also the pickings are slim other than the probably very expensive C from Ohio State. I think they will give DeeDee most time in the Fall. Non-conference play in the Spring will depend on how she and Freshman Madison Sauni do in the Fall but they will probably both get a lot of playing time. If DeeDee's bat can get anywhere close to what it was in HS she might be the starter. If she cannot hit Madison might be the only choice to start - if SHE can hit! Gosh, I hope one of them can! Both would be awesome.
Reminder - Frankie is a UTL and has played at 2B so that's always a choice if needed. Scout or a Freshman can take her place in OF.
I agree with Scout and catcher and it makes me wonder again how Hailey Golden has been doing in practice (her hitting). She was her team's Offensive MVP at least two years in HS. She has PR many times in two years. I'm guessing she might be the third outfielder next year but the two freshman might be really good like KK this year!cevans_40 said:frankie00 said:
I think Scout is going to have to hit her way onto the field. Probably the same goes for catcher.
Arizona All-American outfielder Dakota Kennedy entered the transfer portal on Monday with one year of eligibility left.https://t.co/dhBWBVNdwo

It IS kind of poetic in a way - OU got beat by a team that did the same thing they do.

I have mentioned several times that NIL reminds me of the Yankees. For many years they bought the best players in MLB, paying them many times more than what they were making at their old teams to get them to switch teams, and won a ton of championships because of it.
I read an article the other day that the wonderful NCAA is going to try to stop the obvious 'pay for play' deals by setting up a 'clearing house' of sorts to review all NIL deals to try to rule out the obvious 'pay for play' deals. It's going to be a bureaucratic mess. They let the horses out of the barn and now trying to round 'em up. NCAA will never change.
