Gosh, first time #1 since the 80's.

And to repeat what many of us have said - in only three years of Ford and staff !!!

No, I get it, I use it too. It's just dumb for the name of our regionals.

The official US census bureau name for the metro area is 'College Station-Bryan'. Once CS passed Bryan in population, that's the rule for naming.

Quick thoughts:

If we win our regional (we will) I'd say there's a really good chance we face Stanford and not Oregon.

Oregon and Alabama got the toughest 2 seeds in Stanford and Virginia Tech.

One of the 3 series OU lost in conference was to Alabama, who they would face in the supers if the seeds hold.

Thank God we avoided Texas Tech in the supers. DO NOT want to face Canady in a 3 game series with everything on the line.

I'm surprised they put Tech with Florida State, other than it Guarantees 1 non-SEC school to the WCWS.

LSU draws Jordy Bahl. I hope she puts it to them.

Missouri has 2 victories over a No.1 team in the country this year (OU & A&M) and misses the tournament. There's no way that's happened before.

I'm guessing Monty and Becky Davis' house.

Texas Tech was seeded 5 spots above their rpi
Texas 3 spots

LSU 4 spots lower

Everyone else within 2

Committee held pretty close to that metric

Those northeast schools picked up a great time to come play in the Texas heat!! Mid afternoon at that as well! Nothing better for an opponent than 90+ weather and an Emily Kennedy fast ball! Or Mac Barbara and Mya Perez standing at the plate!

Marist's starting pitcher has a 1.50 ERA and a record of 22-1. But I don't believe she has pitched against any top 25 teams.

Yeah imagine the stats if Mya Perez or Mac Barbara played Marists's or Saint Francis' schedules LOL

Now that I have looked at the competition level these teams have played I have been able to put it in context. I was commenting on a graphic ESPN put up highlighting top hitter from smaller conferences and 2 of the 4 happen to be headed here. Neither has seen pitching like we have.

It would have been tough to slot LSU as the 6 seed (their RPI) after the Tigers finished tied for 9th in the SEC at 12-12 and bowed out early in the conference tourney.

Like I get that, the university does that sort of generally, but the address of the actual stadium is in College Station
I use 'B-CS' all the time. Got so used to seeing it when I was a student that it became common usage so I still do it.
Growing up in the 80s it was always B-CS. The C-STAT stuff drives me crazy.

LOL

We make program history and the main discussion is what they call our regional.

B-CS works for me.

It is a weird issue and seems to come up whenever any of our sports hosts a NCAA event. It stems from an agreement between the university and the two cities to refer to both cities in any official mention of the location of the university.

I get that main campus and all our athletics facilities are in CS, but RELLIS and HSC are in Bryan, so it makes sense from a university perspective. I also wonder if it is helpful for visitors unfamiliar with the area looking for accommodations.

The C-Stat stuff stemmed from people trying to call Houston H-Town after misunderstanding that Boston is not B-Town, but Beantown.

Interesting list. I think both Alabama and Oregon should be closer to the top. Tech with Miss St and Washington makes since at 1. I would probably put Arizona 2 with both Ole Miss and GCU there. Oregon at 3 with Stanford there. Alabama at 4 with Virginia Tech there. Maybe Duke at 5 with Georgia and Coastal there besides I don't think Duke is all that good. LSU should handle Nebraska just fine

What are the toughest 5 regionals in your opinion?
Belton Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think Stanford is one of the best 2 seeds. I'm thinking we might see a possible upset in the Oregon regional.
