If I wear flip flops and identify as a woman, bring my dog, and think of myself as high class...will they serve me?
If not...I will post a scathing review on yelp...

If you are looking for lower prices, you have to go to their sister restaurant, Admiral Snackbar.

Okay, I'm done now. I'll see myself out

Yes, I'll have the Lando Calamari-an appetizer.

Back to the dress code. If Buzz Williams walks in in his 3 piece suit, and tennis shoes, they're going to turn him away? Or just us lowbrow lolpoors…

Just be glad it's not 5 or 6 cheese Mac & Cheese, that's when it gets pricey. I might have to borrow someone's kid so I can order the slightly cheaper version.

$8 for a side of creamy horseradish for your $50 prime rib, $12 asparagus, and $14 baked potato.

Along with the strict dress code, I don't see this being a sustainable restaurant in this town.

We have other restaurants in the same price range doing just fine. Hell, fajitas for two costs damn near $50 at some of the Tex-Mex places in town. I think this town, and especially south CS, can support 3-5 locations like this just fine.

Not 3-5 De Baca locations, 3-5 higher end restaurants. Republic, Christopher's, Casa Do Brasil. You could probably include Porters in there. I don't think any of them are hurting.

Edit: and yes, like any other restaurant, the food and service will both be big determining factors.

Sadly, I don't think it will last too long. Sounds like a lot of $$$ and a lot of trouble, and it looks like they sunk a ton of money into the building so I'm guessing there's not much breathing room for the owners.

I don't understand why someone won't open a restaurant with a playground in South CS where parents can go hang out on a patio while kids play? Something similar to Lupe Tortilla's setup (with less sand). A place like that would print money down here
JMac03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It does look like they are building something in Jones Crossing (I know, not far South enough) on the end opposite the Chinese place and it has a playground. Not sure what it is. The playground has been there but a restaurant never moved in, but looks like they are doing work.

And I agree. My child was horrible in the toddler years and it made going out to eat miserable. While she played at Lupe some, she was pretty much aging out by the time they came.

There's a coffee shop going up at Welsh and Harv-Mitch (across from A&M Consol).
There's a Starbucks on Wellborn and SW Pkwy.
There is Dunkin and Dutch Bruhs a block away on the other side of Wellborn.
I've been told there is a Starbucks inside the Jones Crossing Taco Bell bathroom.
I think we have coffee covered.

The kids who walk to the gas station before school will probably keep that coffee place in business.

I can't speak for Christopher's as I've never been - but neither Republic nor Casa Do Brasil have such exacting dress codes either. Republic is usually one I do think of as a "dress up" place, but it isn't a requirement and I've seen folks dressed up like us, and others in shorts. *shrug*

And Casa Do Brasil is much more casual, I rarely see anyone dressed up there, and seen multiple large work groups and stuff there.

That's gonna be a big thing to me, especially since they say they will refuse you service. Seems like a lot of folks that come from out of town to game days and stuff go straight from the game to a pricey restaurant - really gonna turn away all that money?
Why yes, yes I really do run the best (and only) BCS ICEE Guide!
