Wife treated me to De Baca on FD Sunday and we were very impressed overall

View out of the big glass windows was unique

Service level was as good as any place in BCS
EASILY the best lamb in town. Our sides were +

Blueberry bread pudding very good

Ipad menus and cocktail list were really nice surprise and easy to read and navigate

Already a top 5 venue that will make their competition have to up their games. Customer wins!

I'm not sure the lamb business will be a success driver. DeBaca is good. It is loud - not Bubba 33 loud but louder than I want in a steakhouse. I will limit it to the the extensive HH and app specials for dining rather than a sit down dinner. It does have a good view and the staff is ahead of what I would anticipate at this point.

Went to Bubba's 33 tonight. It was pretty good--not as large as other restaurants in town but can hold its own with decent entrees and reasonable prices. It wasn't as loud as I thought it was going to be.

It's better than Willie's Grill & Icehouse, but that's not saying much.

I went to lunch at Bubbas33 on Monday and commented to my friend that it was quieter than a lot of restaurants here, especially for being a sports bar. We had fantastic service and the artichoke dip was really good. The only hiccup was at the hostess stand where they buzzed up 3 different groups and didn't have tables ready for any of us yet.

The Oracle's review of Willie's (which can be found on the General Board thread) might be the only one of his I kind of agreed with.

I should write a Yelp review of Yelp that expresses my displeasure of them removing all of his reviews and his 40,000+ photos he had uploaded.

Most people won't take 40,000 photos in their lifetime and he worked tirelessly to get that many to share information about restaurants that had yet to open, rural post offices, statues, and more.

I give Yelp one star only because it won't allow me to give zero stars.

His restaurant reviews were actually valuable in that if he liked something you knew enough to run run run fast in the other direction.

Well I went to Long John Silvers yesterday. It was still extremely busy. Staff was busting their butts and doing a great job. Food was very hot and fresh. Tasted just like I remembered it.

Only complaints:

1. Price. I misread the menu and thought I was ordering a "combo" that included a drink. I actually ordered a "meal" that did not include a drink. One fish, two chicken, and a drink was $15 including tax. A little steep for a lower end fast food joint.

2. Their parking lot looks like ***** Idk if the contractor ran out of time and slammed the asphalt in the night before they opened or what, but it looks rough. Lots of humps and low spots holding water and unfinished edges dropping off into what appears to be incomplete landscaping. But I just notice these things being in construction myself.

Will go back again. I'll give it a few weeks to slow down a little more. It was still difficult to get in and out of the parking lot and to find a table once inside. Seems like they're doing well. I hope they keep it up.

I wonder if this will encourage them to bring back LJS to College Station.

Haha, not me. I've lived here since 2010 and never set foot in the previous building.

I first moved here in 1993. I haven't been inside either.

It was a dump inside. The old one in CS had the same floor plan.

Went to Madden's 2.0 last night. It was excellent as I remembered. Price point is great, high quality food, great drinks, service was attentive. Maybe only thing of note was that the portions are smaller. But I think that is reflected in the price point. No biggie to me, but maybe for some they would need to get a soup + entree to fill up.
Definitely an upgrade from the previous interior. Great product as always with Madden.

Really curious about that $28 happy hour burger at De Baca. I presume the bun is dipped in edible gold leaf before it's served?

There used to be an advertised $25 burger at a strip club in Houston. I'm assuming most of that cost was in how it was brought to the table.

I doubt DeBaca is anything like that.

Everything we've had at De Baca has been fabulous

VERY welcome addition to our local options

We had a positive experience at Bubba's. Good service with a packed restaurant, a manager visited the table, the food was good. There were a few mistakes, and they eagerly fixed them. The TVs are well done and comparable to Walk On's. As long as all that stays true, it will be in the rotation.

I believe kids eat free on Wednesdays.

Correction. We got free kids meals *that* Wednesday, but it is not a continuing special. They do have kids events they announce on Facebook.

Loudest restaurant I have ever been. Especially the room looking out at the runways.

Ever been to 1860?

That's the decibel level.

I've never even been able to look at the runway because they kept pulling the shades down because of the sun...

If you decide to go, please report back. As the other poster said, my last two trips to gate 12 were under whelming. Really disappointing because all the trips before the last two (maybe a half dozen) were great.

I've only been to Gate 12 twice. Bar is kind of nice. I think I had some pretty ok crab cakes.

On both occasions Sharp came in with a large entourage and acted like he was Lord of the Manor. Kind of entertaining.

Been to Gate 12 twice. Service was odd one time (sorta clunky and unprepared) and quite slow another time. Both times the food was great, but overall experience wasn't screaming for an immediate return. It's on the list but never at the top of our mind.

I want to visit Gate 12. Haven't brought myself too as I wanted to bring my dad for Fathers Day/his birthday, and unfortunately, due to my busy schedule and not making time, I no longer have that option. So I still want to go by myself, but I just haven't been able to bring myself yet. I'm hoping to be able to this year. I know I'll be a hot mess when I do.

Gate 12 is a great location. Food is ok but not great. Service has always been slow on a half dozen visits lunch and dinner. Not in my rotation.

Had lunch at Bubba's Saturday with two visiting friends I hadn't seen in a long time to catch up. The music was pretty loud and I asked for a place where it might be a little quieter. I don't think places like that exist in restaurants.

Can anyone provide logic for loud music in restaurants which I've always thought is a place to converse and socialize? Kinda hard to do that when you have to raise your voice to talk to the people across the table. Hence the loud decibel level that we all speak of. It's a ridiculous practice and I don't understand why so many places feel it's important to have music blaring.

Loud music makes the tables turn over faster since you can't just sit and chat for an hour when you are done eating.

Everyone hates it!!
