The Capela signing was strange unless its just a cheap insurance policy. I could see them wanting to keep Adams and Capella fresh with limited minutes throughout the season.

I think it is a "We have to take pressure off Adams so he can be peak and need depth." move.
I think Adams plays a hard 15-18mpg and skips all back to backs. And maybe rotate Capela on the back to backs. Limit Capela to the same 15-18mpg of playing hard. Just dominate the glass with double bigs throwing people off, because most teams don't have the personnel to counter that. And you can go super big with Durant at 3 and Amen at 2.
I thought a D&3 SG like NAW made more sense than DFS, but I think it is obvious that Houston really wants to dominate with size.
And looking at OKC, they were having to play a lot of the season with JDub at 6'5 guarding centers.
OKC's C/PF 4man rotation is Hartenstein (great size), Chet (7'2 165lbs), Jaylin Williams (6'8) and Kenrich (6'7)
Houston is gonna counter that with Sengun, Adams, Capela, Durant, DFS, Jabari, Eason, etc.

And the third best team is Denver. Joker, but after Joker they have DaRon Holmes (rookie) and JonasV, who is the worst defending big man in the league. Then Aaron Gordon at PF. Outside Joker+AG, that is rough.

I think they are going to take the leap if they can be healthy this year.

Disappointing. Cam clearly has a lot of ability, but has issues with attitude and/or work ethic. He can be a quality starter in the NBA if he can figure it out. Don't blame the Rockets for moving on, but disappointed that this is all he was worth.

Fits right into the Wizards mentality of ... whatever.
I knew we'd take whatever we could get for him - he hasn't been in our plans since mid season.
I'm just surprised we couldn't do better than 2 second round picks. Thought we'd at least get a mid to late first for him.

Could have been that the others that were offering more were teams we didn't want to see him go to. With the Wizards, we don't have to worry for now.
The line about wanting to see him go to a place he could thrive is rich.

Wizards have massive cap space next year, with only one non-rookie deal on the books in the 13M Corey Kispert deal.
Their 1st next year is top 8 protected and if it doesn't convey, it turns into 2 seconds. So they are intentionally tanking and letting all the expensive contracts (Marcus Smart, CJ McCollum, Khris Middleton) to fall off.
Then try to find a star in free agency to put with Tre, Bilal, Sarr, and Bub next off-season to go with their top 5 pick in a very good draft.
Their GM was hired in 2023 after working 15 years under Presti in OKC. Guy inherited Kuzma and Poole as his best players. Yikes.
I think the fact that we're trading him really drove his value down
