I understand where you get that, but let's use the sips as an example vs tceh. Glasco has 1 pitcher he can count on. Texas had 3 he would rotate .

Coach Ford has a stable of pitchers similar to the sips. Kavan is good but I like Peters, Lessentine and Munnerlyn. plus the transfers and incoming, I still like where we are positioned.

With respect to pitching, one transfer (Taylor Pannell, LHP from Missouri) but no incoming Freshman. There is one in the class of 2027.

Only one that didn't pitch last year (that I can remember) was Taylor Brown (RHP). Not sure if it was intentional "red shirt" year or injury. Figure it has to be something like that because if nothing else, maybe we would have seen her in the mid-week games.

As far as what is in the portal, the top pitchers are Maya Johnson (RS-Jr, Belmont), Miali Guachino (F, Ole Miss), Allison Sparkman (So, Florida Gulf Coast), Brenlee Gonzales (F, Texas Tech).

If we are looking for a Catcher, Grace Jenkins (Junior, 2025 Big East Player of the Year) Connecticut & Kennedy Bunker of Frenso State are the highest rated catcher on the On3 Board.

On paper, everyone is chasing Tech. They still have to gel as a team. Will be curious how Kaitlyn Terry (OF / P from UCLA) fits into a "role" vs being "it" for the team. When she wasn't playing, she was in the OF. Not sure that opportunity will be there if she is the #2 and intended to spell NiJaree.

Though the transfer portal is still open and active, Softball America has a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/live/LTqyaQNHVA8?si=a-1noyVnqlfSDSqr). Our portal additions were mentioned (at the 16:40 mark) as one of the larger classes, due to our team being a older team, that showed a blend of veterans (Micaela Wark & Tallen Edwards) with a eye to the future (Maya Bland & Paislie Allen, overall, #7 of the 2024 HS Class).

I see on ON3 this morning that Amari has offers from Oregon and Tenn. As several have suggested here where she goes depends on her boyfriend. She was one of my favorite players and I hope she is happy and does well wherever she ends up. She did really well this year and would have been one of our stars next year but it will not happen, darn it.

Kylei Griffin has signed with Houston. With Harley Vestal signing with Texas State a few weeks ago it leaves only Amari still in the portal (of the Aggies who entered the portal this Spring).

Here's a Softball American article on Bailey Lindemuth (https://www.on3.com/softball/news/texas-tech-infielder-bailey-lindemuth-enters-transfer-portal/). A&M offered her a day or so ago. Very versatile player (HS played all positions but catcher) and even pitched this season at Tech.

If Maya is off the table the best pitcher available is Miali Guachino from Ole Miss. Doesn't appear that we have offered.

I have not checked the portal all day so thanks for the news on Amari and the new offer for the Tech player.

Tech roster page shows .395 BA this year whilst the stat page shows .305 and the numbers work out for the latter.

Roster page says 11th ranked pitcher in the 2024 class along with great hitting stats.

Pitching stats at the Tech stats site show only 11 innings pitched, understandable with you know who on the roster and her being a Freshman, facing 38 batters with 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 SO, 0 BB, 0 WP and 0 HBP. I really dig the hits and runs numbers AND the three 0's. Batting average against only .158. You know who was .161. No idea what her velocity numbers are, wish I knew.

Think coaches looking for her pitching abilities. We already have a lot of infielders on the roster. But makes me wonder just like I do with Taylor Brown - will she allow a pitcher to also play a field position and bat? If we sign her pretty good chance she will be a starting pitcher if her number ratios stay the same. If so, good chance our Friday night starter. I would dig it. A lot.

Seems Portal season is winding down, assembling the class of 2027 is beginning.

As most of y'all know the staff will be out looking at recruits (Coach Heff, Coach Harger, and Halle Harger @ P5 Patriot Games in Fort Collins, CO & Coach Ford and Coach Harger will be in OKC for the Summer Games 2025).

Here are a few names we might be seeing as the Staff starts to look at the Class of 2027

Got the above listing from a combination of Softball America and D1 Softball. Will be interesting if any of these players land on the Staff's radar.

My daughter played with Lindemuth at Burleson Centennial. In HS, she was hitting 66-67, fast for her size.. She's only 5'3, but very fast, and a good base runner. Real hard worker.

Darn it, was hoping she would want to stay in Texas. Big sigh.

Georgia has already signed P Maddie Johnson and P Addisen Fisher (the UCLA star), two pitchers on my portal wish list. If they use Lindemuth on the mound, possibly in addition to a field position, they will have an even more awesome pitching staff !!! If they have a decent offense they will be very difficult to beat.

Those who forgot we added AK 47 from the gators at the Mid Term, absolute stud who can play the IF, and I believe catch. Hit .308 at FL and played in the WCWS with them

Sips basically only won postseason games where Kavan pitched. You need an elite pitcher. Our current pitchers you name are #2 options at best. I do love Lessentine.

That's kind of an Ouch-disrespect toward us. We didn't lose that much. Should provide a chip-on-the-shoulder. Has to be about our pitching staff.

Okay, OKC. whatever. You're not unlike the grammar police. I'm a realist who wants a title and to not waste this great batting roster we got by having anything less than a legit championship pitching staff to get us beyond the super-regionals for a change. I do like our pitcher addition out of Missouri.

We are going to have to have a similar route as Florida did this past season. There are only 4-5 extremely elite pitchers capable of carrying a team to OKC. Our path is doable but we are going to need good defense and timely hitting. Let's see how that goes.
