Let me rephrase; I think a lot of the talent at the positions Dallas needs help at the most will be gone by the time we are on the clock again at #76, especially at those three positions.

Crazy how bad Stephen is at "managing the cap" You'd think that a team that perpetually seems to be up against cap challenges would usually contend too. But no not this organization.

The only thing I'll say in opposition to this is that we have been contending. Over the past 3-4 years we've been right there with the best NFC teams in the regular season.... we just have very little playoff success to show for it.

That 2022 team beat the dog crap out of Tampa in Round 1... and in Round 2 we had a great gameplan for SF on the road. Bad luck once again strikes as Tony Pollard goes down early (who was our best offensive weapon all season along with CD).

We rebounded in 2023 with a potentially a better team. Had more really tough season ending injuries (Diggs, Overshown, etc.)... overall had a really great season with yet another terrible playoff loss.

I'm not arguing that this team, specifically the Jones's, doesn't have issues. But we have been competitive, we've just been completely snake-bit for 30 years.

I get what you're saying but you can use your rationale if you've had say a 12-15 year dry spell from getting even to a conference championship game. You cannot for 30 years. Stephen Jones has without a doubt been a colossal failure of a football executive. If he worked for any other org he woulda been long gone years ago .

Yes, I agree with this. At RB, if we wait until the 3rd, we are almost guaranteed to be picking a 4th round graded player.

The other teams also know the strength of the draft and these other teams are gonna gobble up the top DTs & RBs in the 2nd and 3rd.

So the Cowboys have freed up a crap ton of salary cap space. I'm personally fine with this... we are 100% tied to Dak, CD, and soon to be Parsons. Can't cut them or trade them for at least 2 more years, so might as well kick the can and try to win.

Question is, what are they going to do with the money? If we sit back and bargain bin shop free agents then they will once again prove they have no idea what they are doing.

Go get Adams, trade for Myles, extend Parsons, resign Lewis. Address the rest through the draft and this team is back to competing for the division/ conference.

I really don't think Myles is available. The Browns have expressed pretty seriously that they do not want to trade him.

Gotta think Cleveland is in no position to negotiate with him. They're terrible and need to rebuild. I think he gets traded. Too much smoke

Other than signing Parsons, I gotta imagine they didn't free up $50M+ in cap space to sit on their hands. Currently sitting at ~$53M under the cap.

Cleveland is so incompetent that it wouldn't surprise me if they don't resign him and don't get any trade value for him.

This is what I believe. Some team could offer them 2 ones and 2 twos and I don't think they understand that's a good deal for them in this situation.

Guessing Parsons will now want more than Crosby got with his deal yesterday.

Signing Parsons right now would actually free up MORE cap space for this year.

Me personally, I'm not a huge fan of this WR class and taking one at 12 doesn't get me super excited. I think we need to get somebody like Adams via free agency and be done with it. Solidifies our WR room and re-focuses our 1st three picks to RB and OL & DL.

Dumb ass teams like the Raiders will always reset the market when they sign their players. And Dumb ass teams like the Cowboys will always WAIT to sign their guys until the last possible moment while watching the price tag go up and up.

If the Cowboys had no intention of re-building and trading Parsons after that GB playoff debacle, then they should have given him his extension last off-season. Just like Dak, the longer you wait the more expensive it gets. Dumb!

Agree but it takes 2 to tango. Dak and Micah and their agents aren't dumb either. They know the longer they wait the more money they can get.

Yes, but something about money in the hand vs in the bush... these guys LOVE to get paid early because they know they are one freak play away from losing their big pay day.

Dak in particular was ready to sign early while he was still on his rookie deal. They all agreed on the $, they just didn't agree on the number of years. Ended up costing the Cowboys a crap to more on that contract and the one after that!

Micah won't play or practice until a new deal is done. And as per usual, Jerry will wait then pay top dollar.

A couple draft related free agents that caught my eye:

1. Joey Bosa: 2016 NFL Draft... some say this was going to be our pick, but the Chargers got him 1 pick ahead of us. We took Zeke instead.

2. Jevon Holland: This was my pet cat for our early 2nd round pick a few years back. But Miami gobbled him up early in the round and we never had a shot. We ended up with Boss Man Fat instead. You win this round, Miami!!!

Parsons swears up and down he only wants to win and would sacrifice a few bucks for better players. We will obviously see if that's true or not but I'd be willing to trade him if he holds out for the biggest Pyle of money.

I have a feeling... and I'm hearing some talk to back it up... that RBs are going to go earlier than most anticipate in this draft. Starting to get a little uneasy that there is going to be a run on that 2nd group of RBs and it might be over before Dallas picks in the 2nd.

For me that 2nd tier list is Hampton, Johnson, Henderson. If we miss out on this group, I think we miss our chance to get a starting RB. Plenty of good backs still left in the draft, but I think that puts us back to a RB by committee situation instead of having a featured back.

Not the end of the world, but it's pretty much what we've been doing for the past 5-6 season. I'd definitely like to add juice at RB if we can.

Jeanty will go before 12 and then Jerrah will pull one of the second rounders at 12 and say "statement pick" and throw guns in the air....

Skins release Jonathan Allen. There are several free agents that could really help this team. Time for the front office to **** or get off the pot.

I think we could easily take an RB off the scrap heap and pair with Dowdle just fine.

Hell, Dowdle did well enough once we actually committed to running the ball. We could take an RB in the 4th and be fine. We don't need a bellcow right now.

Right now we need a LT, RG, NT, LB, WR, and S, assuming we re-sign Bland soon and keep Jourdan Lewis.

Diggs is cut-bait for me right now.

Dowdle is a free agent. Only RB on the roster under contract is Deuce Vaughn.

I think they need to re-sign Dowdle, and probably will.

Yes that assumes we sign Dowdle.

Pretty sure this was the only season Dowdle was healthy all year. I think that's part of the internal discussion about him with regards to re-signing and/or pairing him with a rookie back.
VP at Pierce and Pierce

Ideally they sign Dowdle to a friendly deal. Draft a speed back and sign a veteran power back or vice versa. After the 2025 season guys like Kenneth walker could be available to sign. I definitely wouldn't mind them signing Harris from Pittsburgh.

I'll take this all day....

Kelvin Banks, OT
TreVeyon Henderson, RB
Shemar Turner, DL

Say Parsons really did sacrifice his own salary to get other players. Why should he trust the Cowboys would actually follow through and sign those players?

Btw Jerry just on Friday said the Cowboys will be careful in free agency. That's not any departure from past offseasons.

I don't think you can and or would pay Micah more than Myles. Maybe you match 40 because Micah is younger, but Myles is undoubtedly a better player at almost everything. I don't think can pay him more. Micah is also a pretty one sided player, so to speak.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well, so much for the pipe dream of the Cowboys actually going out to get talent. Adams to the Rams and Bolton resigns with the Chiefs.

I don't understand why they freed up all this money to just sit on the sidelines again.
