I'm guessing this is in response to the Guyton injury?

No matter what!

I will point out to myself , mostly, CeeDee seems to be really worth that contract in the Football world. Dude absolutely loves football but I can't say the same about Diggs and that may be wasted money. Big money contracts are so hit and miss and if they start sucking, it gives us no chance.

I guess they need camp snap fodder. Dude hasn't played a meaningful snap since 2022 when he blew his knee out. Dak may want to up his life insurance if that dude is starting when the season starts

If what Micah wrote in his farewell to Dallas note is true then he also needs to fire his agent.

Why? For trying to get him max money?

The NFL should have rules in place that prohibit players not playing out their contracts.

That being said, Micah for Terry McLauren straight up.

The league has been laughing at Stephen for years. How stupid do you have to be not return your star player's calls when he's reaching out to lock in an early deal? And their excuse was the deal might be artificially inflated which was the most ridiculous statement until Stephen said Micah has to want to get paid. Clowns.

If Micah directed his agent to get a deal done with the cowboys for less money than would be expected, and the agent didn't do it because the market would go up if they waited, then the agent disobeyed a directive from his client. Also, if Micah really wanted to be a Cowboy and the agent allowed the situation to deteriorate to the point where Micah has to ask for a trade, then his agent failed his supposed best interests.

I'm not even saying I believe Micah, I said "if what he said….. is true."

Say what you want about Jerry and Stephen as negotiators, but if Micah told his agent to make sure a deal was done with the Cowboys, and he didn't get one done, Micah should fire him.

They get fined $50k per day in training camp for holdouts, although "hold ins" like Micah generally avoid it. If they don't play when the season comes, they don't get paid.

You were misreading what he said. Parsons wanted a deal done, agent said better to wait, Parsons so I didn't care about being paid the most so don't wait. The agent tried to get a deal, but cowboys weren't willing to talk yet

Yeah, Stephen basically not engaging with the agent at any point regardless of efforts from Micah's side is the running theme. And that seems to hold to this day
BMX Bandit

Cowboys did the same thing with Romo and probably others. Try to get a deal without the agent around.

It takes two sides to get a deal done. Rumors are parson's agent reached out multiple times about getting a deal done and Stephen didn't pick up or return the call. There is stories just like this from other players.

After the last few seasons of peak jones family idiocy and drama, it's just getting really hard to give 2 ****s about this team anymore. Never thought I'd be able to say that, but I'm here.

The funny thing is, Jerry and Stephen have used that same schtick for over a decade now. Trying to deal with player by inviting them under different pretenses. Every player and agent know it.

And they still try to run the bit. Idiots.

And the media covers for them with the "it's the way the Jones do business, it's unique!" and when they all get a night out of free Johnny walker blue and all you can eat Nobu you gladly cover for the Jones incompetence.

I'd be wiling to take the Jones' side if they hadnt pulled this exact same BS with every top player we have had for about 20 years straight now.
and it always ends up not going in their favor, and we suffer as the fans

Same, currently feel like the Cowboys no longer have the ability to ruin my weekend haha.
I'm sure if we were actually good again by the time december/january roll around that would change.

That's also how I am with the Mavs too now, which is sad

Hey, go ahead and cut the cord. That's what I did. Find another organization that actually won't embarrass themselves or take the fans for granted. The sad thing is their greed and mismanagement does not hurt their bottom line so why should they change their ways?

I don't think i could go as far as to switch allegiances, but I've always had a couple other teams that I loosely root for. I just can't let this joke of a family continue to take up so much emotional real estate. They've cared nothing about the fans for decades now and I wish the fans as a whole would clap back and hit them in their wallets.
DannyDuberstein

I'll never root for another team. That said, my emotional investment in the Cowboys is at a minimum. I like football so I'll always watch and keep up and talk/post about it. But expectations are low, they'll remain low, and no matter what they do in the regular season, I'll be expecting them to F it up.

A&M, on the other hand, full investment forever.

I've been a fan of the Cowboys since their inaugural season in 1960. But every year that passes under the Jones regime I just don't care as much anymore and thats just sad. Jerry has totally ruined this once proud franchise to a laughing stock and his ego and stubbornness to hire a real GM just flat out pisses me off.

I have tended to agree with this, but someone pointed out that their contracts arent guaranteed and they can all just be cut at anytime basically.

It's not true that the contracts aren't guaranteed. They aren't *fully* guaranteed. A significant portion is guaranteed.

For example, Max Crosby's contract is 106.5 million, and 91 million is guaranteed. Garrett's is 160 million total and 88.8 is guaranteed. According to spotrac, Parsons 5th year option is fully guaranteed this year.

The type of player that is holding out always has a significant amount of guaranteed money.

All 1st round draft picks' contracts are fully guaranteed over the life of the contract, and if the fifth year team option for 1st round picks is exercised it is as well.

The 5th year team option is always exercised if the player is good because the team gets to continue paying severely depressed wages compared to what they would have to pay the player as a FA for market value.
