There's already an Asian place that has permits to be located there.

This is how I felt. I try to refrain from posting anything negative about businesses, especially when I know the owners are good people.

I just feel like I didn't get my moneys worth. I had a kids meal one time and on the taco that I paid extra for steak, it literally had two of the thinnest pieces of steak on the taco and that was it. And this wasn't the only example. But service and food was always good.

It just made me so sad to see this morning. Since my washer broke, we've been washing our clothes there. Everyone has always been so friendly, and the food is good. I know they support our local theaters, too, and they seem like all-around good folks. I hope they can recover.

Edit to add: drove by it while on the way back from picking my car up from the shop and nearly cried. It's a total loss for sure. The laundry side was completely collapsed in, and some walls were still standing on the diner side, but the roof was collapsed in.
Why yes, yes I really do run the best (and only) BCS ICEE Guide!

How often do places burn down here? Seems like we have many.

Kitchen fires are somewhat common. How many have we really had recently?

Krispy Kreme was arson so I wouldn't count it. It was almost a year ago.

Chicken Oil was almost 3 years ago.

If you've worked in a restaurant (I have) you know how easy kitchen fires start. Sadly it's just one more thing that makes the restaurant business brutal. Nothing but redirect to those who make a go at it.

I would bet good money that Washbangers will be back it's iconic, everyone I know loves it, and support certainly won't be lacking if they choose to go forward.

1993, coffee machine. It wasn't a total loss, but the interior had to be rebuilt.

Chicken Oil was almost 3 years ago.

Major commercials I can think of since 2000 on operational businesses:

2024 - Krispy Kreme (proven arson), Smitty K's
2022 - Chicken Oil Co.
2020 - Baked or Fried and BBQ 13-0 (proven arson)
2016 - Oriental Market
2012 - Seafood Mama's
2011 - Katsuya (unconfirmed?)
2008 - Jin's Chinese Restaurant
2004 - Olive Garden

It's not. People just don't have anything better to do here in Whoville.

I'm just comparing it to other places I've lived. I can't remember a restaurant burning down anywhere I've lived but I've known many here.

maybe it's covid...

So what was the name of Fish Daddy's before the fire? I thought Rockfish was up by Solt on University at Tarrow

Rockfish became Fish Daddy's. You're thinking of Bonehead's, which was near Atami.

No, they relocated to the strip center behind the College Station Walmart. I get breakfast from there several times each week. Best place in town!

Fajita Rita's had long closed before the fire. It wasn't an operational restaurant by the time it burned down (due to lightning strike). I didn't include it my list because of that.
