That seems a bit irrational to put the #4 team in the SEC above the top 3 SEC teams, all of whom have a better win/loss record in conference and overall than Tennessee.

You could tell this was going to happen when there was a bit of a narrative going around last week about Tennessee being #1 because of the series wins at Sip and at OU. I wish the Aggies would have shut the door on that completely but they dropped that third game in run rule fashion, so here we are. I'm kind of expecting the rest of the polls to follow this one.

The good news is we can do something about that over these last two weeks.

This is true, but also the rankings don't determine the national seeds. Our metrics look outstanding.

1st in RPI
1st in Non-Conference RPI
6th in SOS
5th in Non-Conference SOS
21-6 vs Q1 (next best is 20-6 tu, 19-10 UF, 19-11 USCe, 17-7 UCLA)
1st in AVG RPI win (63)
1st in ELO
1st in the SEC record-wise, which is the #1 conference by a good margin.

At this point, it would take a monumental collapse for us not to get a top 8 seed. Like getting swept in the final 2 series.

I don't see the staff or the seniors allowing that to happen. After Friday, I'm thinking this week is probably pretty intense as far as practice and refocusing goes.

Warren Nolan predicted RPI shows us finishing #1 with a final record of 44-9.

When I wrote a top 8 seed is the next big prize I was not at all suggesting ranking is important in determing seeding. My comment just happened to be after several wrote about rankings.

RPI has been the most widely used metric in seeding for years and this is mentioned frequently in articles, on broadcasts, in interviews, etc. although some have suggested it is becoming outdated.

And you pointed out many other things considered like SOS and ELO. I agree with all of them.

I think SOS is 75% of RPI, at least it used to be.

Taking care of business between now and when the seeds are announced is our immediate and most important task.

The committee used to be almost tied to RPI. Thankfully in recent years they have expanded to look at resumes as a whole. A&M across the board is #1 right now when taking into account RPI, KPI, Quad 1 and the new phantom Quad 1a which is just top half of quad 1. No bad losses. Top 4 national seed easily. The rest are just numbers. The committee moves the next 8 around liberally to get match ups they like. See last year

You beat me to it. Also assuming he means Taylor Brown. Outstanding HS stats in Missouri. Twice Missouri Gatorade POY. Team won state title twice. Is redshirting. Am really looking forward to what she can do in Aggieland.
