Well, it's that time of year when more people need to appreciate having Romo & Dak for almost 20 years running now.

When you start hearing the phrase "Spencer Rattler Named Starting QB" you should shudder. Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, Quincy Carter, Post Prime Drew Bledsoe....... gross.

anyways.... I honestly had hopes that with his size and speed Vaughn could have been the Cowboys version of Sproles.......

So I don't know who this Rickey guy is but I don't think he's a random know-nothing based on he has legit NFL reporters following him on X. I don't believe the thing about Green Bay, but I could see this as the agent's way of getting the contract number out there.

That's great. Get a Khalil Mack type trade value (two #1s minimum) as well as another player that can help and I'll help him pack.

Oh... And when we play the Packers... Those refs better let us choke hold Parsons all Fn day long with zero consequences which has been the case for as long as he's played for us.

I believe that's the same guy who posted last week that GB was offering 2 1s and a 2 for Parsons.

Sorry, it's just not believable that any team is willing to give up three premium draft picks AND pay Parsons nearly $5 million more per year than the next largest non-QB contract that was just signed earlier this year.

If Green Bay is offering that then obviously you say yes immediately before they sober up but I will not believe that until it happens.

Parsons ain't going anywhere. Just pay the man and get it over with…

Edit: He cleared waivers and Ravens signed him to their practice squad as expected.

Perhaps someone to watch on the waiver wire. Sounds like Baltimore really likes him, they're just log-jammed at the position. Must be nice. He's super raw but definitely sounds like all the physical traits are there. If he can eat up space and get push, I say dump Mazi for him.

So I'm not really keeping up or losing sleep over the Micah thing, but it sounds like it's getting wild.

He's already had 1 MRI on his "hurt" back and the results came back (of course) clean. Now he's apparently going for a 2nd opinion.

LOL, man. So him and his agent are gonna claim, "I'm not holding out, my back hurts". Yeah, good luck trying to make that fly when Jerry starts holding your game checks buddy.

jr15aggie

I'm not sure if Parsons/Agent thought that the general dislike of Jerry was gonna make them the good guys in this deal.... But Parson's dumb ass laying on the training table in the middle of the game and now pretending to be hurt makes them both look like a couple of little B****es!

This is a business deal and you are under contract. You play, you get paid. You hold out, you don't. I think most of us can relate to that and not blame Micah if he chose either option. But he chose the "act like a child" option instead.

I don't know what did/didn't happen during previous negotiations... but what's going on right now is 100% on Micah and his Agent. Jerry has no business trying to sign a deal with this guy right now.

I am no Jerry Jones lover by any means, but I am starting to be out on Micah - I just think a big criticism of him previously has been immaturity/leadership concerns and he is really amplifying those right now.

I love his talent, but it seems like he wears down over the course of the season. I could justify paying the $45m or so per year for his talent, but I don't think he will ever be a leader on this team, so why is he worth the money?

Now, I feel like the right move might be to trade him. I think the team would be worse in the short term for sure, but you can replace that production for cheaper. And let's face it, we are probably not going to the Super Bowl with Dak at QB (I don't dislike Dak, I just think this is the reality). So it might be a good time for a soft rebuild - collect picks from the trade and be ready to strike for a QB in 2027.

Also why would you want to sign someone dealing with a "back" injury? I wouldn't want to pay huge money for damaged goods.

Just trade him and be done with it. We aren't going to win anything significant this year anyway

Agreed. Just tired of the Micah Parsons experience and I don't think you have to take Jerry's side for that to be the case. I've seen the comparison made, but to me this isn't remotely comparable to the Emmitt holdout in '93 where you knew the team was going to be special with him back in the fold

It sounds like this the BIG reason why Jerry didn't get a deal done sooner.

On the flip side, we've seen Jerry wait on all of the recent big deals (Dak & CD) and none of those were exactly smooth/easy negotiations.

So who knows... but as far as team building is concerned, yeah, I sorta feel like making Micah the highest paid non-QB ever isn't the best strategy.

This is David muhulugeta's move, the fake injury thing. He's done it repeatedly. He's a dirtbag.

Micah sat out 2020 season due to covid. You knew his leadership wasn't great when he didn't even want to play. They should trade him for as many picks as they can get.

I like how Micah phrased his being at camp as being a leader. He just didnt want to lose money.

Just saw a post on X that said that the Cowboys are actually willing to entertain trade offers now and want to get some sort of resolution before the game next week.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised they put a deadline on it. I wish it hadn't gotten to this point but still...

What do y'all think realistic/reasonable compensation would be? I don't imagine any team outside of playoff contenders or up and coming teams with QBs on rookie deals would be trading for him. Therefore, I would expect that picks involved would fall in the middle to back of any round.

I think something like:
2026 1st round pick
2027 1st round pick
2028 3rd round pick
Starting quality DT (doesn't have to be a star, just someone who can fill a spot)

OR

2026 1st
2027 1st
2028 2nd
2028 4th

I tend to favor picks over players and I feel like any team that trades for him is going to want to contend, so won't give too many players.
FTAco07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You're not going to get anything close to that at this point. If you trade him now I would guess one 1st (probably late 1st since only a good team would trade for him now), and two 2s or a 2 and 3.

You maximize trade value after the season and before the draft.

I had mentioned it needs to be something like the Raiders received for Mack:

Raiders traded Mack and conditional 5th rounder
Bears gave up (2) 1's, (1) 3rd, and (1) 6th.

That would be the starting point for me. Agree, would rather have the picks than a player, unless he was an immediate help and under contract.
Tksymm7
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I really don't think this would be the case. You'd be trading for a mid-20s, borderline best at his position future hall of famer. That's going to get you two firsts as the starting point.

agree. If a team isn't willing to even start w 2 1's and something of significant value in addition, the phone call is over.
Tksymm7

The trick would be trying to trade him to a team like New England. Someone who thinks they are improving and adding a all-pro caliber player might jump start their franchise again, but could also still suck.

I agree if you do it at the proper time before the draft, but not the week before the season starts. It's also complicated by how much the game has changed and how 1st round picks are valued (more now than ever) against a player who is making $40-$45MM per year against the cap.
cman1494
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think the Patriots would be a great trade partner. I saw another tweet that said a team needs a little over $21m in cap space at the present to trade for him. Based on this, I think only like 6 or 7 teams would qualify. Ultimately, I would take the richest offer, but I think they would try to avoid trading him into the NFC.

I also thought about Buffalo. Their picks would be late, but I think you could sell it as the only reason they haven't been to the Super Bowl is because they can't stop Mahomes and trading for the best defensive player in the NFL is their best chance at doing so.

Jerry will pick up a 3rd and a 5th in exchange and proclaim it a win since he has so much good come out of those rounds

The Mack trade:
Raiders got:
  • 2019 first-round pick (used to draft RB Josh Jacobs)
  • 2019 sixth-round pick
  • 2020 first-round pick
  • 2020 third-round pick
Bears got:
Mack +
  • 2020 second-round pick (used to draft TE Cole Kmet)
  • 2020 conditional fifth-round pick (which became a sixth-round pick in the deal for Bryan Edwards)
So the Bears gave up at most 2 1st round draft picks. That is saying the 6th and 3rd round picks tie the 2nd round pick.

A 3rd, a 5th, and a bust with injury history but has insane measurables so they say it's a win.

Any trade for Parsons needs to START with two 1's...otherwise you fine him until it hurts him and he plays or he is traded next offseason at a premium...

Micah is under contract to sack QBs for the Cowboys this year. The Cowboys have all the leverage over Micah or anybody who wants him.

Here's how I see it:

1. Any trade talks start with two 1st rounders or they doesn't start at all.

2. If somebody wants him right now, I also need a good/solid player in return. Draft picks Don't help us until April. If I'm letting our best player go, I want somebody else who can help the '25 Cowboys win games.

The conditions change if we trade him after we tag him at seasons end. But if we are trading him right now, I want a player and picks!
