Great discussion all around fellas!

Some disagreement but it's been civil. Love it or hate it, this has been great fun to talk about as we are about to kick off Aggie & Cowboy football!

A&M fans bag on him because he made an entirely rational and, in my opinion, correct argument for Ohio State and Notre Dame in the playoff over A&M in 2020. Oh, and because he cried on TV once regarding a very divisive political topic.

Objectively he's one of the best to ever do what he does in any sport and his name has become synonymous with college football. He will retire one day as, by far, the most famous college football media personality in history and for good reason.

Most sports fans are just some combination of pathologically emotional with respect tot their favored sports and/or really ****ing stupid, including most of our fans (A&M I mean).

Media doesn't want to bash a player and miss out on interviews. Even though athlete interviews normally suck

Sturm is saying Cowboys needed a 2nd or 3rd round pick and Edgerrin Cooper or Matthew Golden also if they were trading to an in conference rival.

Everyone on the ticket was so dumb today. Acting like we didn't get much in return. Bob is essentially saying we should've gotten 3 first round picks (golden was just taken) and a second. Has anyone ever gotten 3 first round picks in the nfl? Not that I can think of. And he thinks we should've gotten that plus abscond or third on top? And Green Bay would then have to pay $47 per year to Micah?

That's not even close to realistic. It seems like we got more than the Khalil Mack trade (depending on how you grade Clark), and everyone was saying we wouldn't be able to get a Mack haul just a couple weeks ago.

I would be willing to bet that after his 5 years in Green Bay, he will resign with the Cowboys as a 32 year old. There's lots of positives and negatives about him but one thing is fact, he will want to retire with a Star on his helmet.

got rid of unnecessary snark on my side. apologies.

Which will make a better team in this year:
$45 MM cap space (allows you to extend some contracts with early pay days to create future cap space if doing poorly, or trade for top players via draft capital if doing well)
DT starter that helps with the biggest defensive weakness, run stopping

or
Micah Parsons who doesn't necessarily make a team better.

I would comp Micah Parsons to Luka ironically. Super talented. But doesn't make players around him better or the team better. Being a run defense liability is like Luka being a defensive liability. Big plays and sacks is like Luka scoring at will. Both are flashy and get headlines. But do they make a great team elite or do they just make a good team great?

I don't think they compliment well enough to make a great team elite.

Luka had a far greater impact to the mavs franchise than Micah did with the cowboys. Trading Luka was ****ing stupid and still is. Trading Micah was smart

As an outsider who has much less knowledge of recent Cowboys goings-on than the rest of you, I think most of you have -- from what I can surmise -- this thing figured out correctly. It is interesting that no one has answered (that I can tell) Danny's question of whether the Cowboys would take Micah and give up all those picks if the trade were flipped.

I think the vast majority on here, including those that may not like the trade per se, would say hell no. Of course, the Cowboys and Packers may not be at the same spot with respect to competitiveness this year, but it is an interesting question nonetheless.

Another point: Now Micah doesn't have to play on a porous defense where he feels he has to make every play. With GB he has a more balanced defense that should keep him from being double teamed and avoided.

GBs offense is also more likely to have a higher time of possession thus giving Micah more rest. I'm not sure of GBs defensive depth which can also give Micah less snaps.

He's also playing for a contender now. Let's face it: Dallas was going nowhere.

A much better place for Micah to play.

Micah happy and playing for a championship. GB in the hunt. Cowboys set for the future.

All win.

I don't see the Packer's as a serious title contender. They went 1-5 in their division last season, still have an oft injured Jordan Love at QB, no #1 WR and a meh secondary. The pundits are also totally dismissing the hit their run defense is going to take, especially in the middle.

Funny how he never felt the need to make a play when the ball is handed off to the running back.

That was outside his purview just like giving an effort in playoff games.
Seriously though. I'm glad he's gone. I feel like he took this situation to a whole different level than it needed to be and it became a distraction to the locker room. I won't miss him.
And I'm happy with what they got for him.

Micah was relentless against the run... He made a lot of plays in the run game. His issue was he was often out of position because he was QB headhunting.

At the end of the day, if this team was such that we could pay Dak and then get by with some good not great WRs, then we pay Micah months ago and we roll. But we are committed to Dak and Lamb.

Paying Parsons just wasn't feasible IMO. I'm glad the dispute forced Jerry's hand.

I do agree that some of his woes against the run were more effort/selfishness, but i also think he's just not built to defend the run at all high level. He could be better, but at the end of the day he's an outside LBer who's undersized on the LOS and if you latch onto him you can wash him out. If they used him off the LOS scrimmage more and allowed him to use his speed in pursuit I think it would go better, but they don't.

On the Mick Shots podcast they got a good laugh (me too) when they were talking about how Micah had to fly out of the DFW airport... All the while Clark arrived on a private jet and greeted by Jerry himself.

Lol... That sounds like a Jerry move.

They definitely tried to use Micah as a regular LB and he sucked at it. He might be the most exciting flawed superstar in the league.

Von Miller would like a word. I don't fault that part of his game. That tweener rusher is just a new position essentially

I thought he played really well as an off ball LBer. He was much better against the run off the ball.

Hell, I'd say he's probably an avg rusher off the edge. To my recollection, his best plays are when he rushes inside against guards and centers

Demarcus Ware's son made the Southlake Carroll varsity as a freshman. Last year, Terry Glen's son played RB. Two of nine Cowboys sons to play for the Dragons.

Demarcus looks like he's 30 years old. Very nice guy and open to all the local fans.

For the price of Micah you can have two contracts like that.

Great news on Bland. The Micah deal already paying dividends.

Tyler Smith and possibly Pickens (see how this year goes) are likely next.

After that, we use our #1 picks to keep building. And here's the key point... We don't have to draft an all world talent like Parsons to make it a worthwhile deal. We just have to build a roster that can compete for a title.
