It would be off brand for Ryans due to character concerns, but I wonder if we'd take Mike Green and just add to the pass rush.

No lie, that is an insane defense.

We must be out due to the medical, they could have had him at 25. Tonight is over but tomorrow starts early.

Simmons patellar tendon tear is an issue, even Booger said he had it and said it took a year for him to feel himself again. I wouldn't have been thrilled with the Texans drafting him, at least at 25.

I'm loving the idea of getting Shemar Turner in the 3rd if he falls that far. 2nd rd picks have to be OL and WR clearly. Unless there's just some "best player available" that can't be passed up

Luther Burden anyone? Or is his bust potential too high?

I like the value of the guards in the 3rd round that should be available. Don't love any of the WR other than Higgins.

Would love to end up with Higgins and Ersery in the 2nd but that's unlikely

Higgins might be too similar to Collins, but at the same time is it bad to have Nico Collins on each side of the field? Burden is a different type of receiver so I could see them taking either one.

I'm curious if Houston doesn't like Simmons medical because of how many OL injury issues we've had over the past couple of years. They might like Conerly better in the second.
True, but Washinton just took Conerly. Teams might just be scared of Simmons in the first.

It's kind of disgusting how seriously Washington is taking building an OL for Jayden. How will he ever grow if he's protected from everything?

CJ will know how to live on his own because we're not a helicopter organization who provides everything for him.

His patellar tendon tear is a big concern, Booger on the telecast said that he had one and it was a full year before he felt like himself again. I am not suggesting Simmons won't be a good player, but I would have been uncomfortable drafting him at 25.

Either Higgins (my preference) or Tre Harris would be fine with that first pick. But gotta go OL with that 58 pick. Just gotta

Last night it really seemed like someone stuck a bomb up Mel's ass and told him it would go off if Sanders was not a first round pick.

I can't upload images anymore, but here's a clip from Seth Payne's podcast that has the trade value breakdown (it comes up at the 12:15 mark in case the link doesn't take you straight there). So for anyone wondering if this was good value, we scored higher on every trade value chart.

Give me the best player on our board at 34. I don't want to reach to fill a need.

If that's Mike Green, grab him and make our pass rush absolutely filthy. If it's Luther Burden, awesome.

I just don't think any of the offensive lineman on the board right now are good value at 34.

If they get Burden (or best player on their board) at 34 and Jonah Savaiinaea at 58 that would be a great haul IMO.

That would be a good combo, I would also be fine with Ersery with the first pick and then the best WR on their board with the second

Looks like Houston can get the following 5 players in their picks today:

WR Jayden Higgins ISU - compares to Nico Collins in size and ability
RB Kaleb Johnson Iowa
OT Charles Grant WM, 6'5 311 long arms
OG Miles Frazier LSU, 6'6 317
TE Mich Evans ND

Based on best available charts all 5 could be there.

5 more picks in 6-7 which may be combined.

With 2 picks in 2, 3 and 4 next year this is looking like a big success.

Ugh, that would be terrible if that is how it unfolds. A possession receiver who lacks any kind of burst/twitch, a running back who doesn't like contact, a project OT....ugh.

I know last night was a bit of a let down for all of us that watched 3.5 hours of a draft that we didn't make a pick in but today is a busy day. We have 5 picks in day 2, which I've noted below.

2nd Round
2 (34)
26 (58)

3rd Round
15 (79)
25 (89)
35 (99)

Best available at positions of need:

OT
Aireontae Ersery
Ozzy Trapilo
Charles Grant
Anthony Belton
Cameron Williams

WR
Jayden Higgins
Tre Harris
Luther Burden III
Jaylin Noel
Jack Bech

DT
Darius Alexander
Shemar Turner
T.J. Sanders
Omarr Norman-Lott
Alfred Collins

RB
TreVeyon Henderson
Quinshon Judkins
Kaleb Johnson
Cam Skattebo
Dylan Sampson

At 34 my guess is they go best WR on their board but if they like Ersery then they'll need to move up from 58 to get him. 3rd round will be time to look at DT and RB and a wild card. I personally would love it if they took Fannin from Bowling Green at 99, he's an undersized TE but he's a great pass catcher. Bowers is undersized but that didn't stop him from having a hell of a rookie year.

There's a part of me that wonders if they see Will Johnson and Mike Green and just can't pass up the chance to draft them based on talent. Adding either of them just adds strength on strength. The giants took Carter at 3 when they already had Blades and Thibodeaux, a DE group with Anderson and Hunter that adds in Mike Green would be insane.

Agreed, a little high, but if he has the traits they want then great. Interesting note, Ersery is the last tackle that I would take in the 2nd, so if they pass on him then I don't think they were ever really focused on getting a tackle in round 1 either and were looking at BPA (considering Casserly said there is still a player left that they would have considered at 25)

I don't like any of the OT's left. Ersery isn't bad, but he is a RT and we have several guys there.

There are a few good guard prospects in the second round. NEED to get one of them.

Luther Burden has first round talent, but doesn't seem like a DeMeco type guy. I like Kyle Williams...outside of that, I don't care for any of the receivers.

Running back isn't our biggest need, but there is talent there. I like us taking a DT today just because they can probably get a good one.

It seems as if Nick wanted to move up, but there wasn't a good move available, so we hoped one guy would fall to us and it didn't happen. All of our positions of need just dried up in front of us.

We'll get good football players today, but this draft is a major disappointment after Day 1.

I think the OT position will be easier next year. There are a LOT of good QBs next year, not nearly (or in my view any) this year. I would bet there'll be a big run next year and if there is a decent OT class, there'll be a bigger slide that'll make it easier to address in the 1st round.

Nick did well with his 2nd and 3rd round picks last year, no reason to start doubting now.

Don't want to reach for OL just for the sake of adding an OL. Go best available and add some vets via FA. There will be someone solid that gets cut for cap reasons that we can use as a stop gap. Several strong options that dropped out of the 1st that may not be in positions of need but are still players that make us better.

Luther Burden has the talent to be a stud but his attitude sucks. If he was like Egbuka as far as attitude and work ethic then he would be an insanely good pick in the second round.

It hurts going into CJ's 3rd year knowing OL was a major weakness and we've arguably downgraded on paper. Hopefully just plugging in jags and better coaching enable the unit to show improvement, but that's not much of a plan.
