Flew connection for international out of Dallas with AA out of A yesterday with the poors.

I refused to stay in A so went over to c and walked through e to kill some time. Everything was surprisingly empty. Maybe just caught a weird time, but I would have thought way more traffic for spring break.

E security was open and not busy.

In E this morning. Took us about 13 minutes to get through the screening line, then another 15 or so to get through the baggage screening. Quick walk to our gate.

Live report from terminal A spring break:

Plenty of terminal parking at A
Pre-check line maybe 40 deep (extends to the security entrance)
Clear line 4-6 deep
Regular line : zigzag from hades but does not extend into the check-in area

Optimistic I have time for the pre-departure beer

Going thru A has given me the experience of seeing the Spirit and Frontier lines that seem to go forever.

Just came thru A at 10am this morning, it's definitely spring break week. Parking in A/B garage much more crowded than usual, Pre-Check line was about 10 minutes, the general line was a lot longer. Club in E packed. Just fyi for those traveling this week.

Same experience Monday. The spirit animals were getting very restless in security. Lots of pajamas and neck pillows… at 1pm.

I would rather not it be renamed.

I'd say this is more valid for Terminal A instead of E

Quick update... I flew out of C last friday and came back last night. I parked at A due to space and easier in and out. I wound up having to gate check my bag so had to take the Mickey train to get back to A. All in all it was fine, but even with B closed the train still stops there. For some reason it takes longer to clear out of of B with nothing happening than any other stop.

Terminal E this morning was great, at 7:45am. Parked in C/E lot on the top level, right above new E Check in area. I may never go back to C.

FYI if you want to park in CDE lot you need a reservation, they were checking.

Just boarded my flight to BTR. Got a garage reservation, it was a **** show. Attendant was directing everyone to level 8. No parking there - I got lucky and stumbled upon someone leaving.

No checked luggage, went through A. It was busy, but I have pre check. On top of that, I'm a ***** and have clear. So I got through in 5 minutes.

Tough to find parking at AB garage this morning. The boards said 184 spaces on level 8 in the elements. There was maybe 13 spread all over. I parked in the worst one and was lucky to get it.

I got my steps in underground. They do have a ground shuttle at B to get to C.

Then shortly after, you can fly out of Terminal Cheeeel!

Odd... A/B 99% full and CDE only 68%. Opposite of typical levels.

Spring Break travel is going to be heavy Spirit, Frontier, etc.

That whole open air airport things works for them with their climate out there, but it is just weird for the most part.

never been, is it real small like Santa Barbara?

That airport cracks me up, just dump you out on tarmac and walk up to some old building and luggage is just kinda scattered around.

It is small, but nicer than Santa Barbara. The weirdness is that the gate areas are indoors and the checkin/baggage claim is indoors. But the areas in between are kind of an open air atrium with partial overhead covers draped over parts of it. It is great when the temps are mid 80s and dry air, but when it is raining or it is 110F, it is kind of annoying.

there was a huge tennis tournament that I knew nothing about, so the bathroom lines were long, security was the most unorganized nonsense I've ever seen, the bars didn't know what to do with themselves, and the gate agents/on ground traffic people were running themselves crazy.

plus, what do they do when it actually does rain?? or when it gets freezing cold like the desert does.

Coming back from Baton Rouge and my United flight is going to gate A2. Arrived early so sitting on the tarmac. Too bad we are too early for that Emirates A380 to saunter by up close.

My husband is at the airport this morning and says the only parking reservation was Eco Park. Waited 40 min for a shuttle and will likely miss his flight. Parking full at all the terminals. An absolute s@ show.

I have a reservation in A tomorrow…wondering if I should just Uber instead.

Welp - so much for the new improved parking entrances that read your license plate. 6am had parking lady physically check to make sure you had reservation at C parking. Then gate didn't read my plates and machine didn't read my QR code. Had to take a ticket and gonna have to call when I exit to get refunded the double pay.

I travel every other week and still park offsite just to avoid the hassle of the terminal parking, and then I get free parking when the family goes on vacation

Man... Reading page after page of issues and questions about the parking garages...
If I'm taking a shorter trip I always just use the Parking Spot. Get off JFK, park in their covered structure, and I'm generally on their shuttle within 5 minutes. Seems a heck of a lot easier than all of the gymnastics some of y'all are dealing with.

If it's a longer trip I just Uber from the house.

I have a reservation in A tomorrow, too. Early flight and I'm driving in from College Station.

If you come back on a popular day (Sunday) getting back on the Parking Spot Shuttle turns into Thunderdome. If I've got kids/bags with me, I hate dealing with it. Midweek it's fine.

If yall have reservations, you should be good. However, it's IAH.

Just remember Sylvester Turner made the decision to tear down the D/E garage to save taxpayers money.

Garages were absolute mess this morning, if you didn't have a resy they were turning you around in the line which is always fun.
Luckily I got a spot on my level 6, United Club in C was holes and elbows, so much so they made an announcement to put your bags on the floor rather than in a seat.

Yeah are we ever going to get a garage rebuilt after this is all said and done?

B gates aren't closed so people still need to stop there. The check in area is just closed.

You'll essentially just walk through a white tunnel to the gate area if you have a flight in/out of B gates.

The train stops but the doors don't open. Also, it takes longer there without the doors opening than it does at every other stop where people are actually getting on and off.

Exactly... this is the subway... not the above ground train.
