We are going to Cabo next week and leaving on the 3rd. Last night I booked refundable flights on Southwest just in case this isn't resolved at IAH by then. If TSA is back to work and IAH is open again, we will go United and get a refund on the Southwest flights. If it is still a cluster like it is now at IAH, we will just cancel on United and get future flight credits and not deal with getting there 6 hours early with two kids.

All that to say, yes, if I were you and flying tomorrow, I would most definitely switch my flight to go out of Hobby.

In line now. Got in line at 5:15 for 10:00 flight. I was thinking no way when I got here, but when the 6:00 shift came on, they opened more security gates and the line has been actually moving a little bit so I might actually make it.

It helps that it's work and my give a darn is zero.

Yeah do Hobby or convince them a zoom call is better. No way id go out of IAH right now.

Keep us posted… I'm supposed to Fly back and forth to Orlando tomorrow and was hoping the lines would be better in the morning…. Does t sound like it.

I think half the issue is the 4 to 6 shift is a skeleton crew and people started lining up at midnight because they missed their flights yesterday, which just put the start of the day already behind. My coworker got here at 4 and made his 7:30 flight,

Getting there at 4 means leaving the house at 3:30 to catch an 8am flight… to inspect a building and turnaround and fly home thru Orlando which already has a crapshow of security on normal days..

Maybe a later flight in the morning?? Not going to Hobby..

I'm telling you as someone that has been to both airports this morning. Hobby is the way to go.

For whatever reason, TSA staff shortage doesn't seem to be impacting HOU like IAH. A flight later in the day is going to be just as bad/long of a wait as first thing in the morning I think.

To compound the problem further, media articles on security is causing people to line up way earlier than perhaps even needed, further causing congestion.

I got to A parking at 5:35, got to end of the line around 6:05 all the way down the tunnel at terminal C, made it thru security at 7:55. My co worker went to E at the same time and just gave up. Ignore the app. A is better.

That's what I did. Was supposed to fly out Monday morning to Minneapolis and be in that area until Thursday. Saw all the horror stories from Saturday and Sunday and NOPED the trip

Anyone know what is happening with wheelchair/disability access? Does that still get through Security reasonably fast? For my 85yo mother who is traveling soon, no way she can deal with this.

If I were in her position and it wasn't critical to make this trip, I'd skip. I do not know how the wheelchair/handicap accessibility is right now, but not worth her getting caught in a bad spot.

If she needs to go, send her out of Hobby or maybe even drive to DFW

United doesn't run this route anymore. Only flights out of Easterwood now go to DFW on American.

ha i'm trying to get to Vegas with some buddies for march madness, and A I really don't want to cancel and B i really don't want to fly southwest. but if this shat doesn't get fixed, i'm out.

I actually think being a work trip makes it easier. I got paid to stand in line. If I made it, cool. If not, just go in to the office. Zero give a darn and having no personal financial stake in the outcome made it easier. All I was out was a couple extra hours sleep I can catch on the flight

I'm currently in line at A. Ice is everywhere and the line is moving. Just passed the 75-90 minute sign but definitely moving faster than that. Will report back once I'm through security.

Have ICE handle the ID checks, metal detectors, and bag searches. They're more than trained for those, so TSA can do the other stuff.

it takes 1-2 months of training for TSA to get certified to run the carry one luggage xray machines.
