You should be able to check luggage at D

No. It wouldn't have made a difference or caused me to unpack anything. I need what I need.

If I'd had TSA pre on my BP like I was supposed to, I would have boarded with both of my bags and weight wouldn't have mattered. So I didn't even bother to look up any weight limits because I didn't expect to have an issue with my BP. I didn't have to pay to check it, so it's just an inconvenience.

I knew as soon as I walked up to the counter he was gonna make me weigh my bag, and I figured it would be over. I can squeeze almost 2 weeks of clothes/stuff in a carry on.

Had the same prob flying home from New Zealand - carry on was "too heavy".

We flew in from cayman yesterday around 6pm, and I can't complain.

Though customs in less than 5. Baggage was also less than 5.

Took the Johnny cab tunnel train to C from E and vehicle was waiting at valet.

They've finally figured out the new digital valet and it seems to be working well. Not even having to roll down your window because of the license plate scanner in or out is pretty convenient, even though big bro is watching.

Security back from cayman however was awful, it took 1.5 hrs, never been like that.
1.5 hrs at the Cayman airport? That's weird. No idea what the issue was?

Allegedly some lady was wigging out refusing to throw something away, which shut the whole thing down to one lane.

Interesting. We were in Cayman in August 2006 when the US banned all liquids on flights. My wife had to dump everything, and apparently, that was a lot of money.

I was going through Grand Cayman on a Sunday once on my way to Little Cayman. I had spent the last few weeks out on a job site where we were excavating TNT contaminated soil, so I wisely decided to buy a new backpack rather than chance traveling with one that might have TNT residue from the soil dust. At the last minute, somebody asked me to review some figures, so I had to take my work laptop with me on the plane. Going back through security at Grand Cayman for the flight to Little Cayman, the only thing they wanted to screen was to swipe my laptop for explosives. I stood there sweating bullets, trying to think of who I could have them call that would actually answer an international call coming in on a Sunday and tell them that my story checked out. Luckily it didn't come up positive, but my wife was laughing her ass off watching me sweat.

We are flying out of IAH to Durango in August. I'm assuming that's Terminal B, but is there a way to confirm? Trying to nail down parking reservation early.

Actually, I guess we'd be going to C because we'll be checking bags. I think I figured it out.

The B lobby is demolished. You have to go through TSA at either C/E or A. If you're checking bags on United, make a reservation in C, check your bags, go through security then take the SkyTrain if your flight leaves out of A or B.

Mild **** show today. East ramp of c garage closed, with no markings or signs, just barricade across entrance.

Make way over to west ramp, and they have 2 of the entrance lanes coned off for no reason (not the actual gates just the way to get over there), with a guy literally just standing in one of the other lanes.

Then get to level 4 for valet, they have a cart parked in the entrance from the ramp on the floor with two guys standing there yelling to go in the wrong way.

Not real sure what the point of any of it was, or how long it will last.

I'd say give yourself an extra 5-10 to figure out wtf is going on.

Just drive over to A/B garage and take the train. Takes an extra 15 minutes but security lines are short and you don't have to mess with the nonsense of CDE.

Caveat that you can't check United luggage in A/B.

This is gold.

I've been living here now for nearly 26 years, and in that time, construction on some part of that fustercluck has been going on. It's damned ridiculous.

And even after all that, the airport still sucks compared to most other major airports in the US and certainly globally

After 3-4 decades working on the Gulf Freeway, I guess Construction, Inc decided IAH could be torn up for a decade or two.

They are going out to bid on a 4 phase skyway project so that should be fun.

Terminal B South? Wasn't that just redone in 2013/14? Don't get me wrong, the exposed cinder block walls and concrete floor once you walk down to your regional jet looks cheap, but I wouldnt think they are already planning to tear those apart and rebuild.

From the image, it looks like all they're going to do is demo the center 8-9 gates. Why take that out?

I don't think you can really draw much of a conclusion from that animated rendering.

Who knows what kind of operation they have in mind. Hopefully real jet bridges, not the janky version with uncovered areas into temp ramps, etc, etc. The thing that gives me hope is it says "aligned with UAL's gate of the future" standards.

If they are looking to move a lot of their regional jet traffic from RJ-145s to E-175s, they probably need the extra space, hence going from ~30 RJ gates to 18 E175 gates.

Unless she's planning to primary one of the current local liberal reps., I don't see that happening in the near future.

Otherwise her only path to the Fed is an appointment.

Figure me this… I'm flying out of terminal a (not b or c) in the United app is telling me to get dropped off at terminal C, even without bags, for Security, and then take the sky rail to a. Is there construction in terminal a now? Seems dumb.

CDG is the international sister airport of IAH. Had a test of patience trying to exit a parking garage at CDG today. Described it to my BF as "I thought I was at effing Bush!"

The signage here is nuts, too. Literally needed to take an escalator up to catch the train line we needed, and the sign in front of it had an arrow pointing down. Thankfully, there was no option to go down, so we figured it out.

Had a couple bad thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and last night that shut the train system completely down. Certain lines were still having trouble this morning. We were forced off a train 3 stops before the one we needed and had to take an Uber the rest of the way.
