can anyone confirm? The line didn't exist at 5am despite getting a text about it yesterday (everything in C was shutdown pushing people to A or E)

For whatever reason, TSA staff shortage doesn't seem to be impacting HOU like IAH. A flight later in the day is going to be just as bad/long of a wait as first thing in the morning I think.
To compound the problem further, media articles on security is causing people to line up way earlier than perhaps even needed, further causing congestion.
This week. A couple weeks ago it was the opposite.
Reporting from terminal a. I got in the TSA line downstairs at 10:20 and just made it through. Online the estimate was 240 minutes but I was done in 50. It looked like TSA agents were covering the ID and screening part while ice was doing everything else with security. One agent said it is drastically better today than it was yesterday. Thank you ICE!

Wife attempted to fly out yesterday. She has pre check and clear. She was 10 minutes from clearing security in C when they shut it down and moved everyone to E and no longer allowed pre check or clear. So she missed her flight and tried again today. She got there at 3:30 am and cleared security at 5:30 for a flight at 9.
Delta just gave Congress a middle finger.

I'm not super familiar with United tiers, so pardon if it's obvious; does 1K and GS include business ticket fares or is it only for member status?

I believe its because a lot of connections happen at IAH and if you're coming from another country you have to go through TSA to to make your connecting flight. Then if you missed your flight yesterday because of a delay, you get a hotel and then are now trying to get in line with everyone else that was planning to fly the next day. Its a compounding issue.

For the last 3 weeks as stated I have personally flown out of Hobby and have not seen it. If it happened it was rare and they certainly fixed it fast, and that is the point of me asking.
My view is Hobby has more budget airlines as opposed to IAH, which is largely United. People were flying those airlines to kick off spring break and it got jammed because crowd volumes surged higher than normal with lesser staff. Hobby has resumed normal course and that means less surges.
Just my thinking, not 100% on it.

I've heard rumors that SW canceled a bunch of flights this week, so that may be contributing to the ease up on the security lines.
I will say, when I went thru A, technically everyone was standard screening, but it felt a lot like a pre-check. They were telling everyone, do not remove anything from bags, don't take off belts, etc. It felt a lot like they were trying to expedite. Maybe I'm wrong, but it definitely felt they were actually trying to get people through.

I had a friend who is GS get through C in the GS/1K/wheelchair line in 19 minutes at 3 pm. It must have reopened.

Just made it thru security at A in less than 5 minutes. When I first walked up to the security line I thought it was closed because no one was there but walked right in.

Security let me into the 1k line even though I'm just silver level. Felt like I got away with robbing a bank! My boss waited 4+ hours, I was through in 20 minutes.
I used to be 1K … but back to Silver now….. is it worth the risk to try Terminal C on that line this morning?

I'm GS and leave this evening…wondering the same thing. I have not been able to find any firm guidance on whether or not C is accommodating 1k or GS. But will keep searching…
