You were too early. The lady next to me on my 10am flight Tuesday absolutely went thru the 1k line at C.

Close friend of mine went thru it Wednesday morning for her flight. It's definitely there.

They'll get paid for the hours they worked + interest. They won't get paid for the call out days.

They're not in that "nonessential" category that gets that perk.

It appears the national hubs are seeing the issues. My guess is sheer volume and # of TSA people on staff.

There has to be something else making our problems worse. ORD and LAX (just two hub examples I could think of quickly) are business as usual, and MSY isn't what I would consider a hub.

Yeah, I'm thinking there is a really toxic culture at IAH. Add no paychecks and people are out of there.

Flying home to IAH today from MKE. Spring break in full swing with families heading south = crowded airport. 100% TSA lanes open including pre-check and Clear. What a difference granted nowhere near as large as IAH.

Yes. Coworker flying out Wednesday is 1K and got text Tuesday night. She was still anxious as this is a multi week trip to far east so showed up around 4:30am before they opened but as soon as it opened got through in C.

He has pre-check but it wasn't open.

Bill is going to the House today. Expect it to be business as usual by Monday. Hopefully the people that 'quit' comeback.

They need to take TSA out of DHS. This was absolutely bull**** and the package passed had been offered to Dems weeks ago. There's zero reforms in it. CBP & ICE aren't funded in it, but they're funded through like 2029 already via the BBB.

I'm not a major traveler or anything, but IAH has the crankiest, most inhospitable TSA agents of any of the airports I've flown out of in the last 10 years. It's noticeable and as a passenger going through the security line, it's like going through the Seinfeld soup nazi line. I can imagine it's worse now that they haven't been paid in over a month.

Last week it took us 10 minutes to get through security at DFW. I told my wife I was glad we chose to drive the almost 3 hours to get there when we bought the tickets to LAS back in January. Last time we flew out of IAH in October, TSA hadn't been paid in a minute due to that shutdown; that combined with the parking cluster**** and cheaper flight made me go with DFW this time. Turned out to be a good choice even though I didn't foresee yet another shutdown.

I guess one positive to having IAH as my home base airport my whole life is that I've been conditioned to expect the worst… parking, TSA, all of it. Makes everything else seem like a breeze.

Looking back on my TSA experience yesterday, it just seems so silly to me. Probably 100 or so people working to crowd control, direct, manage the line of thousands of people, all so 2 lines with maybe 5 TSA workers total can check bags and look at the body scan machine.
